Occupational Safety Programs Intern

This internship willassistin achieving the corporate mission of providing a safe environment for employees and customers.  Interns will have the opportunity to learn about and be exposed to each function of an airline safety department.  After successfully completing the internship, the intern will have an overall knowledge needed to understand all elements of safety. This intern positionis responsible forassistingthe Ground Safety team with ensuring safety and compliance throughout the organization. This position reports to theSeniorManager of Occupational Health Programsand Assurance.

Essential Duties:

• Involvement in Occupational Safety and Health Programs, including but not limited to: Injury and Illness Prevention; Heat Illness Prevention; Wildfire Smoke Protocol; and OSHA Self-Audits

• Assistwith review and follow-up of report submissions 

• Assistin creating data visualizations and reviewing manuals
  

Job Qualifications and Competencies:

• One(1)year of progress towards a degree with a major or minor in safety or aviation/aeronautical science 

• Excellent communication and Microsoft Office Suite skillsrequired

• Organized, detail oriented, self-motivated,ability to multi-task, problem solving skills, and the ability to set and meet deadlines 

• General knowledge of Code of Federal Regulations (CFRs), Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Regulations, and proceduresregardingairline safety 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Junior or Senior student 

• Prior work experience, especially in a fast-paced office environment 

• Knowledge of Tableau 

Work Environment:

• Standard office environment, use of computers and other office equipment 

• Ability to work a flexible schedule if needed 

• Some travelrequired

Physical Requirements:

• Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds
