  • Coordinate routine safety support across assigned projects and keep the Branch Safety Manager informed of priorities, changing conditions, and resource needs.
  • Review pre-task plans and job hazard analyses with field supervision, helping crews identify task-specific hazards and appropriate controls.
  • Deliver new employee orientations, toolbox talks, and routine safety training within the specialist’s qualifications; identify training gaps and coordinate follow-up.
  • Assist supervision with applying company safety programs and project requirements, including fall prevention, ladder safety, electrical hazard awareness, and equipment safety.
  • Assist with incident and near-miss investigations, prepare factual documentation, and track corrective actions under the Branch Safety Manager’s direction.
  • Maintain accurate safety records, review assigned inspection and training data, and communicate recurring concerns and improvement opportunities.
  • Participate in project safety meetings and coordinate routine safety matters with field supervision, Site Safety Managers, and customer representatives as assigned.
  • Support PPE and safety equipment needs, employee engagement, and branch safety initiatives.
  • Provide practical guidance to Safety Technicians and assist with their field development when assigned.

What believers are saying

  • Workers have explicit stop-work authority: everyone on Hatzel & Buehler sites is authorized to call a safety timeout.
  • Student pay is explicit: summer 2027 Project Management Interns pursuing relevant bachelor's degrees earn $15-$25 hourly.
  • Education support accompanies senior procurement work: Wilmington's full-time Purchasing Director receives tuition reimbursement and a matching retirement plan.

What critics are saying

  • Entry is selective: Hatzel & Buehler's Reading-area electricians need five years' experience and apprenticeship certification.
  • Lancaster safety work extends beyond office hours: the role requires travel and occasional evening or weekend work.
  • Wilmington's Purchasing Director has no remote option: the position is fully on-site, Monday through Friday.

What makes Hatzel & Buehler unique

  • Prefabrication stays in-house: Hatzel & Buehler uses dedicated union electricians rather than subcontractors to build and install assemblies.
  • Coordinated delivery spans disciplines: Hatzel & Buehler partners with Bluestone Communications and Blue Sky Controls on electrical projects.
  • Trade relationships have deep roots: Hatzel & Buehler is the National Electrical Contractors Association's longest continuous member.
