Requirements
  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with 6+ years building and shipping production iOS applications.
  • 2+ years in a technical leadership role—tech lead, lead engineer, or equivalent—owning architecture and outcomes for a team of engineers.
  • Expert-level Swift with strong Objective-C interop and deep command of the iOS SDK, Xcode, Instruments, and the full debugging toolchain.
  • Demonstrated ownership of a non-trivial mobile architecture at scale, including modularization and dependency management with SPM or CocoaPods.
  • Deep expertise in concurrency and multithreading, including GCD, Swift Concurrency, async-await, actors, memory management, and race/deadlock diagnosis.
  • Strong experience with UIKit and SwiftUI, plus reactive or asynchronous patterns such as Combine or equivalent.
  • Proven experience with cross-platform delivery using Flutter and Dart or React Native, with sound judgment about when not to use cross-platform technology.
  • Experience with data persistence and offline-first design using Core Data, SQLite, or Realm, including migrations and conflict resolution.
  • Ownership of mobile CI/CD end to end, including Fastlane, GitHub Actions, code signing, provisioning, and App Store Connect release operations.
  • A track record of driving measurable improvements in app performance, stability, or engineering velocity.
  • Strong grounding in object-oriented programming, design patterns, SOLID, data structures, and algorithms.
  • Strong written communication for design documents, RFCs, and post-mortems.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and level up engineers and build consensus across teams without formal authority.
  • Extensive experience with Agile methodologies and strong working knowledge of the software development life cycle.
  • Data-driven decision-making and comfort operating with ambiguity in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
  • Own and evolve the mobile architecture across the app portfolio, including modularization, dependency boundaries, state management, navigation, and offline/sync strategy.
  • Make and document technical decisions about native Swift versus Flutter or React Native, third-party SDK adoption, and persistence and caching strategy, including trade-off analysis and migration paths.
  • Author and drive technical design documents, run design reviews, and uphold SOLID, clean architecture, and pattern consistency across MVVM, VIPER, Coordinator, and unidirectional data flow.
  • Lead large-scale refactors and platform migrations, such as UIKit to SwiftUI and monolith to modular packages, using incremental, low-risk rollout plans.
  • Identify and remove systemic technical debt and maintain a prioritized architecture backlog with Product and Engineering Management.
  • Break down ambiguous, multi-quarter product initiatives into scoped, sequenced, estimable work for the team.
  • Personally deliver the highest-risk components, prototypes, and performance-critical paths.
  • Own the release train, including versioning, release branching, phased rollouts, App Store submission and review escalations, kill switches, and rollback procedures.
  • Own build and developer productivity, including build times, flaky-test elimination, local development setup, and CI/CD reliability.
  • Drive integration contracts with backend teams for RESTful and GraphQL APIs, including versioning, backward compatibility, and error-handling standards.
  • Define and enforce the quality bar through unit, integration, snapshot, and UI testing; code-coverage expectations; and mandatory quality gates in CI.
  • Own crash-free-session rate, ANR/hang rate, cold-start and frame-rate budgets, app size, and battery/network efficiency; set targets and report against them.
  • Instrument and profile with Instruments, MetricKit, and Xcode Organizer, and lead performance investigations across app, SDK, and backend boundaries.
  • Act as incident commander for production mobile incidents by triaging, mitigating, communicating, and running blameless post-mortems with tracked action items.
  • Define observability standards for crash reporting, structured logging, analytics events, feature flags, and remote configuration using Crashlytics, Sentry, and Firebase Remote Config.
  • Mentor senior, mid-level, and junior engineers and grow at least one engineer to the next level through structured feedback and stretch ownership.
  • Own code-review culture by setting expectations for review depth and turnaround and coaching through reviews.
  • Drive the hiring bar for mobile by designing and calibrating interview loops, conducting architecture and coding interviews, and supporting onboarding.
  • Provide input to Engineering Managers on performance, growth, and team composition.
  • Represent mobile engineering in cross-functional and cross-organizational forums and influence platform, design-system, and API decisions.
  • Write and evangelize internal standards, playbooks, and documentation and run knowledge-sharing sessions and guild forums.
  • Partner with Product to shape scope and sequencing, surface technical constraints, and propose lower-cost paths to equivalent outcomes.
  • Define success metrics with Product, including adoption, engagement, crash rate, and task completion, and drive data-based iteration.
  • Assess feasibility and effort for new initiatives and provide estimates with explicit assumptions and risks.
  • Implement and support compliance with Freshworks compliance and information-security processes, including secure-coding practices, data-handling requirements, and privacy/App Store policy obligations.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience leading a UIKit to SwiftUI or native to cross-platform migration in production.
  • Mobile security depth in Keychain, certificate pinning, encryption at rest, jailbreak/tamper detection, and OWASP MASVS.
  • Experience building and maintaining shared SDKs, internal libraries, or a design system consumed by multiple apps.
  • Experience with GraphQL on mobile, including caching and schema evolution.
  • Experience with experimentation platforms, feature flagging, and progressive delivery at scale.
  • Familiarity with Android and Kotlin sufficient to reason about parity and shared architecture decisions.
  • Experience in B2B SaaS, multi-tenant, or enterprise mobility, including MDM, SSO/SAML, and on-premises constraints.
  • Accessibility experience with VoiceOver and Dynamic Type and internationalization at scale.
  • Open-source contributions, conference talks, or active participation in iOS developer communities.

Modernising enterprise service management with a SaaS-first, omnichannel platform.

Modernising enterprise service management with a SaaS-first, omnichannel platform. First Digital runs a major fashion retailer's enterprise service management on Freshworks' Freshservice, from Azure single sign-on to WhatsApp live chat, across roughly 1 400 agents. The challenge. The retailer mandated a review of its enterprise service management tooling with two clear goals: to mature and expand service management capability across the enterprise, and to secure a sound, future-fit technology investment. It needed a single, scalable SaaS platform that could modernise increasingly manual ways of working and reduce its dependency on bespoke, custom-coded solutions, without compromising on enterprise governance or cost control. The approach. Partnering with First Digital, the retailer selected Freshworks' Freshservice as its strategic ESM platform. The decision was anchored in Freshservice's comprehensive, SaaS-first enterprise capabilities, its potential for rapid time to value and its ability to reduce reliance on in-house development, backed by enterprise-grade vendor commitments covering platform availability, support, dedicated account engagement and product training. Delivery was hands-on and collaborative. The teams met in person at kick-off and at critical milestones, blended in-person and remote work to keep delivery moving, and trained users directly on the retailer's own platform build so the business stayed close to the solution throughout.
