Hesai Technology, JD.com deepen cooperation on physical AI applications. Monika From Gasgoo | September 15, 2026 14:16 BJT Gasgoo Munich- Physical AI infrastructure company Hesai Technology announced on September 15 a new strategic partnership with JD.com. The companies will explore physical AI applications across a range of scenarios, using high-precision 3D perception technologies such as 6D full-color LiDAR to support JD.com's autonomous delivery vehicles, robots and other operations. Image source: Hesai Technology At the recent JDDiscovery 2026 conference, JD.com presented its latest physical AI initiatives and plans to build what it calls the world's largest physical-world operations center. The initiatives include a computing cluster comprising 100,000 domestically developed accelerators, the collection of 10 million hours of embodied AI data and the launch of the JoyAI family of world models. JD.com also unveiled several logistics robots and technologies in its "Wolf" series ("LongZuTech"), including the "Mother Wolf,""Warehouse Wolf" and a low-temperature version of the "Intelligent Wolf." The Plus version of its sixth-generation "Lone Wolf" intelligent delivery vehicle, designed for scaled Level 4 autonomous operation, uses Hesai's AT-series LiDAR to provide high-precision 3D perception on urban roads and in complex environments shared by vehicles and pedestrians. JD Logistics said it views logistics as one of the most promising areas for robotic applications. The company plans to purchase 3 million robots, 1 million autonomous vehicles and 100,000 drones over the next five years as part of its effort to establish the world's largest embodied robotics fleet and physical-world operations center. Hesai's Picasso 6D full-color chip platform enables LiDAR systems to capture RGB and depth information natively. According to the company, the technology can reduce the need for synchronization, calibration, registration and 3D annotation required by conventional approaches. It is designed to provide more consistent RGB-D ground-truth data and shorten the process from real-world data collection to model training and iteration. Built on the Picasso platform, the upgraded Hesai ETX is described by the company as the world's first 6D full-color LiDAR platform with more than 1,000 lines. It offers a maximum detection range of 600 meters and supports up to 4,320 lines. Hesai said the platform's small-object detection capability can help autonomous driving systems identify distant vehicles, pedestrians and road obstacles earlier. The JT-series LiDAR platform is designed specifically for robotic applications. Hesai says it provides a 360-degree by 189-degree field of view. Its compact design supports concealed installation and close-range detection without blind spots. The JT series will also adopt the Picasso platform, combining color and depth data to provide integrated spatial perception. According to Hesai, the series has already been selected by several major embodied AI companies. Hesai and JD.com plan to deepen their cooperation by combining Hesai's technical capabilities with JD.com's operational scenarios to deploy physical AI across a broader range of real-world applications. JD.com partners with FundPark to offer merchant financing. JD.com has partnered with Hong Kong-based fintech FundPark International, which provides working-capital finance for small and medium-sized enterprises in ecommerce and supply-chain trade, to offer financing to merchants selling imported goods on its cross-border platform. The companies announced the agreement on September 14. JD Technology said FundPark became JD.com's first overseas financial services partner for import cross-border ecommerce. FundPark will launch financing products for merchants' working-capital needs, including inventory purchases for peak sales periods, and day-to-day operations. JD Technology is part of JD.com's technology and services segment, which covers merchant-focused fintech offerings alongside the group's core retail and logistics businesses. JD.com's import cross-border marketplace includes JD Worldwide, which allows overseas brands and international merchants to sell directly to Chinese consumers without a local legal entity. The partnership targets smaller merchants that need funding to buy inventory during busy sales periods and support day-to-day operations. Recent JD.com developments. JD.com's catering brand 7Fresh Kitchen has launched an intelligent food truck featuring automated cooking technology at the China International Fair for Trade in Services. The AI-powered vehicle, dubbed "Chef Transformer", uses three cooking robots and a smart coffee machine to prepare freshly stir-fried Chinese dishes without on-site chefs. The truck serves signature dishes including stir-fried pork with chili, wood-ear mushroom chicken, and spicy beef, alongside beverages. It uses preprocessed ingredients delivered through cold chain logistics with full traceability, whilst an open kitchen design allows customers to watch the robotic cooking process. Following its debut, the mobile unit will serve sports matches, music festivals, and exhibitions. JD.com positions the system as a solution for overseas Chinese catering, addressing chef shortages and standardisation challenges in international markets.
Chinese e-commerce giant JD.com is encountering resistance from competitors over its proposed concessions to address European Union foreign subsidy concerns regarding its $2.5 billion acquisition of Ceconomy. The deal, which would see JD.com take over the German retail group, has drawn scrutiny under the EU's foreign subsidy regulation. Rivals have pushed back against the concessions offered by JD.com, though specific details of the proposed remedies and the competitors' objections were not disclosed. The opposition adds another layer of complexity to the transaction as JD.com seeks regulatory approval for the takeover. The outcome of these discussions will determine whether the deal can proceed or if additional concessions will be required.
