Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED equivalency
  • Ability to read and write in order to check patient identification prior to the procedure, and to ensure that the oral contrast solution is mixed per Radiologist’s request, and to label films.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to greet patients allay apprehensions about the procedure and interact with visitors, physicians and other hospital personnel.
  • Ability to learn radiology policies and procedures, how to load and unload film cassettes, operate radiographic film processor, properly handle exposed radiographic Imaging Plates, and prepare premixed barium solution.
  • Able to perform Basic computer Skills
  • Retrieves information and prints images from the PACS. Sends images and information to remote locations (i.e. the War Room) as needed.
  • Performs direct patient care such as initiating IV access, phlebotomy, labeling specimens and documents for laboratory purposes.
  • Observes intravenous therapy and reports changes to RN if needed
  • Assist Technologist by loading and transporting Imaging plates to plate reader.
  • Perform cleaning of the Imaging Plates on a routine basis.
  • Digitizes hard copy film as necessary.
  • Burns imaging on a CD when appropriate
  • Able to print hard copy film from Modality
  • Cleans procedure room, instruments, supplies and equipment following each case.
  • Unloads and distributes clean linen and reorder of linen supplies.
  • Performs basic clerical and service duties and distributes daily schedules and requisitions for the appropriate area.
  • Transports patient to and from Radiology as required.
  • Sit with patients Observe patients during procedures and report any changes in patient condition to Imaging Technologist.
Responsibilities
  • Assists the technologist with procedures. Ex. Transfer of patients from stretcher to procedure table. Setting up procedure supplies for technologist
  • Provides patients with dressing instructions, escorts them to examination room and answers basic questions about the procedure. Keeps dressing room stocked with gowns and informs technologist when patient is ready to begin examination. Checks accuracy of orders from referring physicians, hospital units, or emergency department
  • Provides other Radiology Information System (RIS) functions as needed.
  • Gathers patient information, requests patients to sign consent form for intravenous contrast, verifies patient’s lab results are completed, prepares the oral contrast solution and with appropriate hospital training and introduces intravenous catheters prior to exam.
  • Verifies identity of patient according to hospital protocol
  • Performs direct patient care such as initiating IV access, phlebotomy, labeling specimens and documents for laboratory purposes.
  • Observes intravenous therapy (i.e., straightening a curled tube) if needed, and reports immediately to registered nurse any other change in IV activity (i.e., no flow from the IV or if the IV has come out of the vein).
  • Assist Technologist by loading and transporting Imaging plates to plate reader.
  • Perform cleaning of the Imaging Plates on a routine basis.
  • Digitizes hard copy film as necessary.
  • Retrieves information and prints images from the PACS. Sends images and information to remote locations (i.e. the War Room) as needed.
  • Burns imaging on a CD when appropriate
  • Able to print hard copy film from Modality
  • Cleans procedure room, instruments, supplies and equipment following each case. Unloads and distributes clean linen to the appropriate areas and ensures adequate linen supply is available for examination areas.
  • Responsible for reorder of linen supplies
  • Performs basic clerical and service duties and distributes daily schedules and requisitions for the appropriate area.
  • Transports patient to and from Radiology as required.
  • Wraps, unwraps and cleans I-131 therapy rooms.
  • Retrieve and return sterile trays to central sterile area on a daily basis.
  • Sit with patients Observe patients during procedures and report any changes in patient condition to Imaging Technologist.
Desired Qualifications
  • CPR certification preferred.
  • One year of Healthcare experience preferred
