BG Police respond to four shoplifting reports in 24 hours at Walmart.

BG Police respond to four shoplifting reports in 24 hours at Walmart. Bowling Green Police responded to four theft/shoplifting reports in a 24-hour period over the weekend at the Walmart store at 131 W. Gypsy Lane. On Saturday (Oct. 10) at 8:16 a.m., two Grand Rapids residents, ages 20 and 24, were cited for theft after reportedly using the handheld scanner at the self-checkout on items in their cart, then leaving without paying. The 13 items - food, pet supplies, automotive and personal care items - totaled $184.13. The couple reportedly have been using the same process at other WalMart stores in the area. They are suspects in a theft at the BG store on Aug. 23. On Saturday at 3:15 p.m., a 61-year-old woman from Rudolph was cited after scanning several alcohol and food items totaling $47.93. She reportedly scanned her SNAP card, which was denied due to lack of funds. She allegedly put a $5 bill in the self-checkout and left the store. On Sunday (Oct. 11) at 7:38 a.m., a 68-year-old Weston man was cited for theft after ringing up 17 food, pharmacy and pet supply items totaling $143.89, bagging them, and swiping a card with insufficient funds. He reportedly left the store without paying. The biggest theft occurred Saturday at 7:07 p.m., when a man left without paying for a Nintendo Switch gaming console. The man, Keon Dody, 27, of Southfield, Michigan, reportedly used a fake Spark order, the delivery service used by Walmart. He was taken to Wood County Jail.

Walmart brings back onn-branded Roku smart TVs to its stores.

Walmart brings back onn-branded Roku smart TVs to its stores. October 12, 2026 Walmart has moved forward with Onn-branded 4K UHD HDR smart televisions running Google TV software, placing limited quantities of these sets into select stores after a multi-year period dominated by Roku-powered Onn models followed by a pivot tied to the retailer's acquisition of Vizio. Years earlier, Onn televisions exclusively featured Roku software, delivering affordable 4K HDR LED sets that streamed content through a simple, channel-focused interface popular with budget shoppers. After Walmart completed its purchase of Vizio, the company reoriented most Onn offerings toward Vizio's operating system alongside an increasing number of Google TV devices. A Roku Onn Kids TV limited to HD resolution remained one of the few lingering Roku exceptions but was limited to online only, not in stores. Shoppers and observers have now reported Onn-branded Google TV smart TVs with 4K resolution appearing on shelves in certain locations. An 85-inch 4K LED model was noted at a local Walmart by Cord Cutters News, highlighting the return of large-format 4K options under the Onn name with the Google platform. Availability remains constrained at present. National shipping is not widely offered for every variant, leaving buyers dependent on local inventory that can vary sharply by store and region. One example is the Onn 85-inch 4K UHD HDR television listed at $598, though stock levels make acquisition a matter of timing and location rather than guaranteed online fulfillment. These Google TV-powered Onn sets build on the strong sales of Walmart's existing Onn streaming players that already use the same software. The platform organizes recommendations, supports major apps, and includes voice controls and casting features that many users already know from other Google devices. In parallel, Vizio-powered Onn 4K models continue to occupy significant shelf and online space, reflecting the retailer's ownership of that brand's software and hardware ecosystem. Higher-end Onn Google TV options, including lifestyle-oriented art-frame models, have also entered the lineup at competitive price points for their size classes. The broader strategy appears aimed at diversifying the Onn portfolio while maintaining aggressive pricing on large 4K HDR displays. An 85-inch 4K set under $600 undercuts many comparable screens from other brands and targets households seeking big-screen streaming without premium features such as higher refresh rates or advanced local dimming. Picture performance on entry-level Onn panels typically emphasizes basic 4K detail and HDR10 support over peak brightness or motion handling suited to bright rooms or competitive gaming. Connectivity generally includes multiple HDMI ports, Wi-Fi, and smart-home compatibility. For consumers, the current mix means checking both physical stores and Walmart.com for specific Onn models, as Roku-powered 4K Onn televisions have largely receded from in-store prominence while Google TV and Vizio variants expand. Residual Roku stock may still appear online or in isolated locations, but the dominant direction is toward the platforms Walmart now controls or has scaled through its streaming devices. Shoppers seeking the largest Onn screens should verify local availability promptly, as limited distribution can clear quickly once units reach the sales floor. This approach keeps the Onn brand positioned as a low-cost entry into 4K smart television while aligning software choices with Walmart's post-acquisition priorities. Walmart partners with Disney and M&M's for an exclusive LTO candy.

Walmart partners with Disney and M&M's for an exclusive LTO candy. I've never been a big fan of the personification of M&M's candies. It's not all that appealing to think of the candy I'm eating as a living being, but that hasn't stopped the company from creating personalities for the chocolate treats. Now, Mars has partnered with Walmart and Disney to deliver an exclusive, limited-time-offer M&M's package tied into "Avengers: Doomsday," the upcoming blockbuster that will advance the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) while introducing Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom. It's a broad partnership that goes beyond the candy aisle. * M&M's and Disney are expanding their rich history of shared fan experiences, bringing their action-packed global M&M's x Marvel campaign to the United States. * U.S. fans can experience the collaboration with seven limited-edition collectible mash-up packs featuring the M&M's Spokescandies dressed as their favorite Marvel characters. These are available in October, including an exclusive pack available only at Walmart, featuring Yellow as Doctor Doom in celebration of Marvel Studios' "Avengers: Doomsday," in theaters Dec. 18. * Consumers can expect fan-first experiences, including a custom crossover comic book and nationwide sweepstakes to win epic prizes, including the ultimate getaway aboard Disney Cruise Line. It's a fairly silly partnership, since the packaging on M&M's doesn't actually change the candy inside, but "Avengers: Doomsday" is likely to be the biggest movie of the year, and fans will likely snap up any collectibles. LTOs drive sales. While everyone knows the M&M's brand, a new limited-time offer (LTO) tied to a huge movie franchise draws attention to a product customers may overlook. "LTOs tap into novelty, scarcity, and excitement and are a powerful tool for confectionery brands wanting to stand out on the shelf," Oterra Marketing Chief Vibeke Haislund said. And tying Doctor Doom to the yellow M&M could be especially effective. "While trying new tastes was important, seasonal themes and eye-catching packaging were other external factors that encouraged trying new LTOs. But color sealed the deal for many consumers, linking flavors to themes," Ottera's data showed. More Walmart: Erica Norton, who served as Hershey's director of global consumer insights and innovation, explained the appeal of LTOs. "Consumers love the excitement that limited editions and seasonal flavors bring," she told Progressive Grocer. In some ways, she noted, it's deeper than just a snack. "Candy is a go-to for comfort and 'me time' moments, when people want to escape from the madness of their current situation," she added. Walmart has a new exclusive M&M offering. Walmart and Marvel tap into what people want. As a huge Marvel fan, I have been actively avoiding learning anything about what Disney has planned for "Avengers: Doomsday." An LTO candy, however, lets me celebrate my fandom without giving away any parts of the movie. "The collaboration builds on the longstanding relationship between M&M'S and Disney, which has brought fans together through the colorful M&M'S experiences and touchpoints across Disney's theme parks and resorts in a way only these brands can. Now, the global Marvel campaign is making its way to the U.S., giving fans another way to connect with two beloved brands that have captivated generations," Mars shared in a press release. Doctor Doom is not the only character involved. "The collaboration comes to life with seven limited-edition packs featuring custom character mash-ups that bring the M&M'S Spokescandies into the Marvel Universe," Mars shared. * These mash-ups include Yellow as Wolverine, Red as Deadpool, Blue as Daredevil, Purple as Elektra, Green as She-Hulk, Brown as Yelena, and Orange as Red Guardian. * These exclusive packs will be available in Sharing Size, Share Size, and Single Size packs across popular varieties including Milk Chocolate, Minis, Peanut, and Peanut Butter. * The Doctor Doom pack is exclusive and available only at Walmart. Disney offers a free cruise and an exclusive comic. If you buy a limited-edition pack of "Avengers: Doomsday" M&M's, you can win prizes, including a free Disney cruise. "Starting October 15, fans have a chance to take their M&M'S and Marvel experience even further through a Mars nationwide sweepstakes. Fans can simply scan the QR code on any limited-edition M&M'S x Marvel packs or visit mms.com/en-us/Marvel for a chance to win super-powered prizes, including the ultimate getaway aboard Disney Cruise Line," the company shared. In addition to the sweepstakes, Disney and M&M's are collaborating on a limited-edition comic book. "Only 10,000 physical copies of this collector's item will be printed, giving fans a rare opportunity to own a limited-edition piece of M&M'S x Marvel history. Fans will have a chance to secure the comic book at select events leading up to the film's release in theaters on December 18," according to Mars and Disney. At the core of this offering, however, is the joy of eating candy. "Candy serves as a mental wellbeing option for many consumers because of its emotional connection," Sally Lyons Wyatt, global executive vice president and chief advisor of consumer goods and foodservice insights at Circana, told CStore Dive. "It's fun to eat. It makes us happy. Eaten in moderation, candy can be an inexpensive joy maker."

Walmart opens automation-infused fulfillment center in California.

Walmart opens automation-infused fulfillment center in California. Mary Meisenzahl | Oct 9, 2026 Walmart's new 900,000-square-foot fulfillment center in Stockton, California, uses automation to speed order processing, supporting both Walmart.com orders and Walmart Fulfillment Services sellers. Walmart announced the opening of its fifth next-generation fulfillment center in Stockton, California. The facility, spread across 900,000 square feet, will increase Walmart's storage capacity and allow it to fulfill more orders across California and the West Coast, according to the retailer. Walmart ranks No. 2 in Digital Commerce 360's Top 1000 Database, which tracks North America's largest online retailers by their annual ecommerce sales. Walmart is also No. 37 in Digital Commerce 360's AI Commerce Rankings. That set of rankings is available in the Top 1000 Pro with AI Database. What distinguishes Walmart's new fulfillment center in Stockton. The centerpiece of Walmart's Stockton fulfillment center is its automated, high-density storage and retrieval system that brings products directly to associates rather than requiring workers to travel the facility floor. That reduces an otherwise 12-step fulfilment process to just five steps, leaving more time for workers to focus on higher-value tasks, Walmart said. Walmart now processes more than half of its ecommerce fulfillment volume through automated facilities, according to figures the company shared with investors along with Walmart online sales updates in its fiscal Q2 earnings results. 3,100 of Walmart's U.S. stores also use automated freight to some capacity. Combined with Walmart's broader fulfillment network, the company says its next-generation fulfillment centers now enable it to reach 95% of the U.S. population with next- or two-day shipping. "We're bringing together associates with advanced technology and automation to create a safer, more efficient operation that can fulfill more orders and get products to customers faster," said Karisa Sprague, senior vice president in fulfillment operations at Walmart U.S. in a written statement. "This facility is an important investment in the Central Valley and a critical part of how we're building the next generation of Walmart's fulfillment network across the West Coast." Fast delivery's importance for Walmart. Delivery speed has been central to Walmart's ecommerce plan in recent quarters. Walmart U.S. online sales grew 26% in Q1, with delivery speed cited as "a key catalyst for growth around the world" by Rainey. Walmart can now reach about 60% of the U.S. population through delivery in 30 minutes or less, a capability it has expanded to 38 U.S. markets. Meanwhile, store-fulfilled delivery has more than doubled over the past two years, with more than 36% of those orders delivered in under three hours. "Speed matters, and we have a significant competitive advantage," Walmart CEO and president John Furner told investors in August. How Walmart Fulfillment Services will use the center. Importantly, the Stockton facility is not only for Walmart's first-party ecommerce business. Walmart Fulfillment Services (WFS), the company's end-to-end third-party fulfillment offering for marketplace sellers, will also use the space to fulfill orders for merchants selling on Walmart.com. That makes the opening directly relevant for the growing base of brands and distributors selling through the Walmart Marketplace. Units shipped same day or next day through WFS grew nearly 150% in fiscal Q1, according to John David Rainey, chief financial officer at Walmart. Walmart launches 1-hour pickup and in-store ASL for holidays.

Walmart launches 1-hour pickup and in-store ASL for holidays. Walmart is rolling out nationwide one-hour express pickup and in-store American Sign Language interpretation via Sorenson ahead of the holiday shopping season. What happened. Walmart is rolling out a one-hour express pickup option nationwide in the coming weeks, giving shoppers a faster alternative to standard pickup windows ahead of the holiday season. Alongside the expansion, the retailer has introduced in-store American Sign Language interpretation, delivered through a partnership with Sorenson, to support deaf and hard-of-hearing customers. The two moves land together as part of Walmart's holiday readiness push, combining a speed-focused fulfilment upgrade with an accessibility-focused service addition. Why it matters. Pickup speed has become a competitive battleground in retail, and a one-hour express tier signals Walmart is treating fast fulfilment as a baseline expectation rather than a premium perk - particularly during the peak shopping period when time pressure shapes purchase decisions. Pairing that with ASL interpretation via Sorenson also shows accessibility being folded into mainstream service design rather than treated as a separate initiative, which is notable given how few large retailers operationalise in-store language access at scale. Together, the announcements point to a service strategy built around reducing friction for distinct customer segments at the same time: the time-pressed holiday shopper and the customer who has historically been underserved by standard store communication. The renascence take. The headline is speed, but the more interesting signal is sequencing: Walmart chose to launch a convenience upgrade and an accessibility upgrade in the same announcement, during the highest-stakes retail window of the year. Most retailers treat accessibility as a compliance checkbox and speed as the growth lever - rarely do they ship both in the same breath, during peak season, as if they're equally commercial. That's the tell: Walmart is betting that removing friction for one segment (time-poor shoppers) and removing a communication barrier for another (deaf and hard-of-hearing customers) are the same kind of investment, not different categories of spend. The behavioral lesson for operators is that "inclusive" and "fast" aren't competing priorities on a roadmap - they're both just friction removal, and customers notice when a brand treats them that way rather than bolting accessibility on as an afterthought announcement months later. This briefing was written by its Newsdesk, synthesising reporting from the outlets below. Follow the links for the original coverage. Questions Renascence get on this topic.
