About the job

Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong hands-on C++ and Python development experience, including comfort writing production-quality C++ code.
  • Experience with TCP socket programming and HTTP client/server communication for hardware-software integration.
  • Familiarity with RF testing concepts or laboratory instrumentation control, including signal generators, spectrum analyzers, and power meters.
  • Hands-on experience with packet capture and network analysis using Wireshark or an equivalent tool.
  • Experience with Git, Linux environments, and collaborative development workflows.
  • Strong debugging and root-cause analysis skills in integrated hardware/software systems.
Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain the core tooling engine and modules primarily in C++ and Python, following clean, maintainable coding standards.
  • Build and maintain TCP socket and HTTP client/server communication layers in C++ to interface with embedded subsystems and backend services.
  • Develop C++ interfaces to control and query external RF laboratory instruments, including power meters, signal generators, and spectrum analyzers, via standard instrument control protocols.
  • Write Python scripts for automation, glue logic, and rapid prototyping where appropriate; Python complements but does not replace C++ as the primary development language.
  • Implement and support RF mode test features, including receiver sensitivity testing, test model signal generation, and waveform testing.
  • Extend tool support for transmit/receive conformance testing and REST API integration.
  • Develop and maintain a monitoring, analytics, and data management system for company products, backed by a C++ and Python firmware serving real-time system status.
  • Build real-time packet capture analysis pipelines for live field monitoring.
  • Support the evolution of data analytics and monitoring by aggregating telemetry and system data for performance analysis, KPI reporting, troubleshooting, and validation of wireless communication products.
  • Support offline log analysis workflows and automated report generation for call metrics, scan metrics, and registration rates.
  • Integrate tooling features with a data platform using message-broker architecture, relational database storage, and visual dashboarding.
  • Support data pipeline extensions for geolocation, positioning, and periodic telemetry collection.
  • Contribute to pipeline performance and reliability through threading, error handling, and schema versioning.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with multi-threaded C++ applications, including concurrent programming, thread safety, and performance optimization.
  • Experience with LTE/5G physical-layer concepts, including receiver sensitivity, test models, waveform testing, power control, and predistortion.
  • Experience with data engineering, including message brokers such as MQTT or Kafka, ETL pipelines, relational database design such as PostgreSQL, and dashboarding tools such as Grafana or Prometheus.
  • Familiarity with pytest and Playwright test automation frameworks.
  • Experience with REST API design and integration.
  • Background in mission-critical, defense, or aerospace communication systems.
  • Familiarity with embedded telecommunications stacks and real-time embedded software.

About the company

Octasic designs low-power, programmable System-on-Chip DSPs for wireless and multimedia applications. These DSPs combine processing hardware to handle radio and media tasks in compact devices for products like wireless base stations, small cells, media gateways, and specialized handsets, supporting technologies from 2G to 5G. They differentiate themselves through energy-efficient, high-performance architectures and long-term OEM collaborations (such as with Panasonic) to tailor processing solutions. The goal is to enable reliable, cost-effective wireless infrastructure by providing adaptable, power-efficient processors for a range of market needs.
