Requirements
  • Must possess OSHA 30 certification and OSHA 300 certification.
Responsibilities
  • Formulate, develop, and coordinate the organization’s safety and loss control functions.
  • Actively participate in monthly safety meetings.
  • Conduct accident investigations, recommend corrective action when warranted, determine causes, and identify prevention methods.
  • Visit various job sites to support and encourage safe and productive behavior and provide employees with feedback on safety and productivity practices.
  • Conduct pre-employment, random, reasonable-suspicion or for-cause, and post-accident drug-testing processes across the organization.
  • Train employees and customers in company and Occupational Safety and Health Administration safety practices.
  • Provide guidance to field employees, project supervisors, and management on employee health and safety, public safety, and environmental safety matters.
  • Maintain compliance with government regulatory agencies such as the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
  • Develop, recommend, and implement new safety policies and strategic objectives.
  • Maintain liaisons with outside organizations, including fire departments, mutual aid societies, and rescue teams, to facilitate emergency response when needed.
  • Prepare written communications, including company newsletter articles, toolbox talks, policies, site-specific safety plans, procedures, and correspondence.
  • Assist with developing company programs to reduce accidents, occupational illnesses, and exposure to long-term health hazards through safety and skills training, emergency preparedness, job instruction, planned inspections and observations, job analysis and procedures, new employee indoctrination, physical protection, and protective equipment.
  • Interface with customers, general and specialty contractors, and trade associations to facilitate safety practices and compliance and provide a consistent approach to health, safety, and environmental issues.
