  • A Ph.D. in economics or a research discipline related to economics.
  • Ability to develop and write manuscripts and make presentations.
  • Advanced knowledge of the principles and techniques of the subject discipline.
  • Knowledge of modern research methods and data collection and analysis, and skill in applying them.
  • Competence in both oral and written English.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students, university officials, and the general public.
Responsibilities
  • Perform highly skilled research or analyses involving complex scientific methods or a complex series of steps.
  • Oversee or conduct critical parts of research projects and coordinate day-to-day research group activities, taking charge of executing parts of a research project under a Principal Investigator.
  • Orient and train others, assign and review their work, and potentially serve in a formal lead or senior capacity over positions performing related technical tasks.
  • Establish internal and external contact with institute staff, researchers, junior researchers, and outside vendors to gather and exchange information.
  • Assist in conducting literature reviews needed to complete a major project successfully.
  • Assist in formulating and developing guidelines for applying findings from literature reviews to educational practice.
  • Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, advise and work closely with project staff in conducting classroom field research.
  • Conduct workshops benefiting staff working with targeted populations and make public presentations about research projects.
  • Perform administrative work supporting research objectives, develop and monitor project budgets, and authorize project-fund expenditures.
  • Design, fabricate, repair, and/or operate research equipment to develop research data as required.
  • Plan and coordinate computerized statistical analyses for advanced and comprehensive research projects, consulting with other researchers to understand hypotheses and experimental approaches and deciding on appropriate statistical analyses for various designs.
