Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a front desk, medical receptionist, or Medical Assistant role is required.
  • A California Certified or Licensed Medical Assistant credential is required if performing clinical duties.
  • Current CPR certification is required, or the candidate must be willing to obtain it upon hire.
  • The role requires strong interpersonal, customer service, and communication skills.
  • The role requires excellent organizational and multitasking ability in a clinical setting.
  • The role requires knowledge of medical terminology and electronic health record systems.
  • The role requires familiarity with HIPAA and OSHA compliance standards.

Responsibilities
  • Greet patients and visitors warmly and professionally.
  • Manage patient check-in and check-out processes, verify insurance, and collect co-pays.
  • Schedule patient appointments, testing, and follow-ups in collaboration with providers.
  • Submit and track prior authorizations, including verifying insurance and submitting required documentation.
  • Answer incoming calls and respond to patient inquiries with courtesy and accuracy.
  • Maintain up-to-date, HIPAA-compliant records in the electronic health record system.
  • Keep the front office area clean, organized, and stocked with necessary forms and supplies.
  • Assist with emergency response protocols by alerting clinical staff as needed.
  • Contribute to onboarding and training new team members to build support and cross-functional skills.
  • Perform allergy skin testing, pulmonary function tests, and fractional exhaled nitric oxide testing if Medical Assistant certified.
  • Administer allergy and immunotherapy injections following clinical safety protocols if Medical Assistant certified.
  • Prepare and maintain allergy serum and oral desensitization vials if Medical Assistant certified.
  • Monitor and document patient vital signs and treatment responses if Medical Assistant certified.
  • Support physicians and advanced practice providers during clinical consultations and procedures if Medical Assistant certified.
  • Educate patients and families about allergy and asthma care plans and treatment options if Medical Assistant certified.
  • Respond to and manage allergic reactions, including emergency interventions when needed if Medical Assistant certified.
  • Escort patients to exam rooms and prepare them for provider examinations if Medical Assistant certified.
  • Assist in preparing asthma action plans, epinephrine training, and discharge instructions if Medical Assistant certified.
  • Maintain clean and stocked examination rooms, log refrigerator temperatures, and sterilize instruments according to protocols if Medical Assistant certified.
  • Assist with clinical prior authorizations under the direction of a supervisor if Medical Assistant certified.
