Requirements
  • At least five years of first-party commercial and/or residential property and liability adjusting experience.
  • Maintain current estimating software; Xactimate is preferred.
  • Have a working computer, internet access, and Microsoft Word.
  • Demonstrate time management and customer service skills.
  • Take recorded statements in the field or with legal representatives.
  • Prepare Statements of Loss, Proofs of Loss, and denial letters.
  • Hold a state adjuster’s license where required.
  • Have a valid driver’s license.
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of property and liability insurance coverage and industry standards.
  • Prepare full captioned reports by collecting and summarizing information required by the client.
  • Submit to a background check, where permitted by law.
  • Possess the ability to adjust commercial and residential property losses and determine negligence and assess damages.
  • Possess working knowledge of coverage, claim investigation, property damage valuation and estimating, and evaluation of bodily injury damages for settlement.
Responsibilities
  • Complete residential and commercial field property inspections using Xactimate software and conduct general liability field investigations to determine negligence and damages.
  • Investigate claims by obtaining recorded statements from insureds, claimants, or witnesses; interviewing fire, police, or other governmental officials; and inspecting claimed damages.
  • Recommend claim reserves based on investigation through a well-supported reserve report.
  • Obtain and interpret official reports.
  • Review applicable coverage forms and endorsements, and provide thorough coverage analysis and analysis of coverage issues in a well-documented initial captioned report to the client.
  • Maintain acceptable product quality by complying with the client’s established best practices.
Desired Qualifications
  • A college degree is preferred but not required.
  • An Associate in Claims designation or other professional designations are preferred but not required.
  • Experience in industry-specific areas such as fire departments, agricultural operations, lumber mills, high-value or historic buildings, construction defects, automobile liability, or subrogation recovery investigations is a plus but not required.
