Front Desk Medical Receptionist
About the job
- At least 6 months of front desk receptionist experience, preferably in healthcare.
- Must be willing to cross-train in medical assistant responsibilities to support full-cycle clinic operations.
- Must have basic knowledge of medical terminology.
- Must be able to use a computer and keyboard at 50 words per minute, a calculator, telephone, copier, and fax.
- Must be able to operate a motor vehicle to travel between clinics.
- Greet, welcome, and direct patients and visitors appropriately.
- Contact insurance providers to obtain computed tomography authorizations.
- Collect patient payments for outstanding balances and current appointments.
- Answer incoming phone calls and provide accurate information and resources.
- Schedule follow-up appointments using scheduling software.
- Accurately record patient health information in the electronic health record system, including insurance, demographic, referral source, contact, and primary care provider information.
- Use the electronic health record practice management platform.
- Prepare and organize paperwork for upcoming appointments.
- Scan and attach patient records and documents to patient charts.
- Monitor incoming pharmacy shipments and prepare them for patient pickup.
- Check incoming mail and process it accordingly.
- Ensure end-of-day reports and logs are accurate and complete.
- Stock the front desk, waiting room, and break room with necessary supplies.
- Schedule drug representative lunches when approved by the provider.
- Request medical records from outside providers.
- Assist in coordinating allergen vial transfers.
- Perform medical assistant duties as needed, including allergy injections, taking patient vitals, rooming patients, and reviewing medical assistant testing boards for allergen accuracy.
- Travel between clinics as required.
- Medical assistant background.
- Medical Assistant Certificate, vocational nurse license, or related experience.
- Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification.
