Requirements
  • High-level knowledge of legal and ethical issues related to journalism.
  • Familiarity with and understanding of what videos work for the audience and why.
  • Ability to generate original story ideas.
  • Ideas about how to make video content engaging and informative for a Prince Edward Island audience.
  • Graduation from a university or community college in a relevant course of study, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Demonstrated professional experience using various news platforms, including digital, social, radio, and television.
  • Substantial experience vetting, editing, fact-checking, and packaging video content in compelling and innovative ways.
  • Substantial experience shooting and editing video.
  • Knowledge of and connection to equity-deserving communities across Prince Edward Island.
  • Commitment to including all equity-deserving groups in storytelling.
  • Comfortable and dynamic on-air presence.
  • Ability to thrive under deadline.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.
  • Flexibility in hours, including evenings and weekends, and ability to work unscheduled overtime.
  • Valid driver's license.
Responsibilities
  • Pitch original story ideas and original video treatments.
  • Gather information from various sources.
  • Arrange and conduct interviews.
  • Plan, edit, and deliver video with a focus on live and on-demand video.
  • Understand the key needs of shooting video.
  • Edit recorded items on appropriate or available editing systems.
  • Work with newsroom leadership to develop clear video strategy and workflows.
