Requirements
  • Currently enrolled and in good standing in a California-approved electronic systems technician apprentice program subscribed to by Bergelectric Corp., with maintained classroom and schooling requirements, passing grades, and completion of work required by the training program.
  • Understand state and federal electrical codes, fire and life safety codes, and industry installation methods commensurate with the level of training.
  • Understand the basic laws of electricity and electrical systems.
  • Interpret technical instructions and electrical drawings.
  • Perform basic mathematics and use electrical formulas.
  • Follow instructions and assist electronic systems technicians, fire alarm technicians, and certified electricians.
  • See details and compare details in objects.
  • Know and safely use industry tools and equipment productively.
  • Have basic mechanical skills.
  • Visualize and sketch an electrical layout.
  • Have reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Lift 50 pounds from the ground and pull 50 pounds of force.
  • Perform ladder climbing, wire pulling, and conduit pulling.
  • Fully squat, stoop, or kneel while wearing a 25-pound tool belt.
  • Stand for long periods while performing repetitive actions such as grasping or manipulating wires.
  • Work from ladders, man lifts, or reach booms.
  • Work in varied weather conditions and high-noise environments.
Responsibilities
  • Assist electronic systems technicians, fire life safety technicians, and certified electricians with installing new low-voltage electrical systems and repairing and maintaining existing systems in commercial, industrial, institutional, and residential locations while complying with national, state, and local electrical codes.
  • Under supervision, safely install, repair, maintain, and test commercial, industrial, and institutional electrical systems.
  • Under supervision, safely install, repair, maintain, and test residential electrical systems.
  • Under supervision, safely install, repair, maintain, and test communications, security, and fire alarm systems.
  • Under supervision, safely use industry-related hand tools and power tools.
  • Under supervision, measure, cut, and install low-voltage wire for communications, security, and fire alarm systems.
  • Under supervision, bend, thread, and install conduit and other wire raceway systems for communications, security, and fire alarm systems.
  • Under supervision, feed, pull, and terminate wire and cable for communications, security, and fire alarm systems.
  • Under supervision, splice and terminate wires at junction points for communications, security, and fire alarm systems.
  • Communicate with foremen and other crew members.
  • Interact courteously and cordially with customers.
