Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited school in accounting or a related field and 6 years of related work experience.
  • If the degree is in a related field, completion of the college-level coursework required for Nevada certified public accountants.
  • Knowledge of accounting theory and generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Knowledge of financial reporting.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Time and project management skills, including the ability to independently manage multiple concurrent deliverables accurately.
  • Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality regarding company information.
  • Experience using personal computers, word-processing software, spreadsheet software, compliance reporting and management tools, and large-scale enterprise resource planning software.
Responsibilities
  • Support and assist in managing the preparation and filing of required reports with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, and other required external financial reports.
  • Prepare financial reports or schedules for inclusion in required external financial reports.
  • Analyze, review, and approve financial information received through the internal corporate reporting process or from other team members for inclusion in required external financial reports.
  • Oversee and administer preparation timelines for the company's required external financial reports.
  • Compile, format, and review Securities and Exchange Commission reports in preparation for filing, including performing extensible Business Reporting Language tagging.
  • Review reporting documents for consistency and accuracy of presentation and disclosure of subsidiary financial statements with corresponding corporate headquarters period filings, and prepare responses to corporate headquarters information and data requests.
  • Analyze, review, and approve financial information received through the internal corporate reporting process or from other team members for submission to corporate headquarters, ensuring timely adherence to its reporting timeline.
  • Maintain personal development regarding new Securities and Exchange Commission requirements, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission requirements, and United States generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Perform technical research on Securities and Exchange Commission requirements, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission requirements, and United States generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Prepare technical white papers by interpreting guidance and applying experience and accounting principles to resolve accounting issues, including documenting regulatory implications.
  • Participate in the monthly financial close by reviewing financial statements for errors, resolving accounting issues identified by team members, and ensuring adherence to the corporate headquarters reporting timeline.
  • Prepare and record journal entries and review journal entries prepared by other team members to support accurate financial reporting.
  • Prepare account reconciliations and review account reconciliations prepared by other team members as assigned.
  • Lead accounting projects and process improvements by identifying opportunities, developing new processes or policies, and implementing them.
  • Prepare schedules for general and deferred rate cases, respond to intervener data requests, and contribute to witness testimony.
  • Ensure that all compliance aspects of the position are known and followed and comply with policies, codes, and regulations applicable to the position and company.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
