Responsibilities

  • Conduct nonconformance reviews and dispositions.
  • Prepare project closeout documentation, including certification data sheets and production test data summary reports.
  • Create electronic assembly and test procedures using NoMuda Visual Factory.

Curtiss-Wright to deliver sensor processing for Northrop Grumman's Improved Threat Detection System. 2 September 2026 Curtiss-Wright announced on 1 September that it has received a contract valued at approximately USD 14 million from Northrop Grumman to supply sensor processing equipment for the Phase II development of the US Army's Improved Threat Detection System (ITDS). This future threat warning system is intended to safeguard aircraft against air defence systems. The initiative seeks to provide enhanced missile warning and threat detection functionalities for both current and upcoming US Army aviation platforms, such as the AH-64 Apache and the MV-75 Cheyenne Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft. Curtiss-Wright's ITDS integrated processor offers a modular and ruggedised solution that is engineered to ingest high-bandwidth sensor data, execute real-time processing and data fusion, and facilitate the swift integration of new capabilities within an open systems architecture specifically designed for portability across various platforms. When combined with Northrop Grumman's Advanced Tactical Hostile Engagement Awareness (ATHENA) sensor, Curtiss-Wright's integrated processor aims to provide timely missile warnings and ensure the critical flow of information throughout the platform, thereby safeguarding aircraft and aircrews. "Combining Curtiss-Wright's highly durable processing capability with Northrop Grumman's ATHENA sensor will result in an unrivaled threat detection capability, providing the potential to protect aircrews from virtually any weapon system - air to air or surface to air - employed by our adversaries," said Brian Perry, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Curtiss-Wright Defense Solutions. September 1, 2026 12:00 AM Curtiss-Wright Corporation has announced an $80 million, multi-year investment to expand operations at its Cheswick, Pennsylvania facility, part of the company's Naval and Power segment, through a combination of internal capital investments, state support and maritime industrial base funding. The Cheswick campus, which spans 118 acres, designs, manufactures and tests advanced solutions for critical naval defense and commercial nuclear markets. As part of the investment, Curtiss-Wright will construct two new buildings to expand manufacturing and testing capacity, improve operational efficiency, reduce lead times and support future growth. NASA awards $5m contract to AiRANACULUS for lunar communications tech. AiRANACULUS to partner with NASA Ames, Nokia Federal Solutions, NVIDIA, Dell Technologies, Curtiss-Wright, Supermicro and Radisys to advance autonomous heterogeneous networking technologies through space flight testing. Massachusetts-based deep technology company AiRANACULUS has secured a $5m contract from NASA under the Civilian Commercialisation Readiness Pilot Programme (CCRPP) to advance intelligent communications technologies for future lunar and deep-space missions. The 24-month project will focus on developing next-generation heterogeneous communication networks capable of supporting NASA’s expanding lunar exploration initiatives. As part of the contract, AiRANACULUS will further enhance its Cross Layer Spectrum Aware Cognitive Control Plane and Intelligent Routing Engine (CLAIRE) and Intelligent Network Slicing and Policy-based Routing Engine (INSPiRE), two AI-powered platforms designed to improve the performance, resilience and adaptability of complex communication networks. The programme will be carried out in collaboration with NASA Ames Research Center and a group of industry partners including NVIDIA, Nokia Federal Solutions, Dell Technologies, Curtiss-Wright, Supermicro and Radisys. The effort will also include integrated testing and spaceflight validation to advance the technologies toward operational deployment. The award comes as NASA and its partners continue to expand lunar exploration under the Artemis programme, creating demand for communications systems capable of supporting a wide range of applications. These include lunar habitats, robotic systems, autonomous vehicles, rovers, science payloads, mining operations, radio astronomy, lunar orbiters and future Mars missions. Such environments require seamless coordination across multiple communication technologies, including 4G/5G cellular, Wi-Fi and satellite communications operating across diverse frequency bands and conditions. AiRANACULUS said its CLAIRE and INSPiRE platforms are designed to deliver flexible and resilient connectivity between lunar surface operations, orbiting assets and cislunar infrastructure. CLAIRE dynamically manages networks through cross-layer sensing, adapting to changing radio frequency environments, reducing interference and congestion, and intelligently routing traffic to maintain mission-critical quality of service. INSPiRE extends these capabilities by enabling intelligent network slicing and policy-based orchestration across heterogeneous terrestrial and space-based networks using NVIDIA accelerated computing platforms, including the NVIDIA Aerial Testbed and NVIDIA GH200 Grace Hopper Superchip. Steve Vogelsang, Chief Technology Officer, at Nokia Federal Solutions, said: "Nokia Federal is proud to support the evolution of lunar communications infrastructure through the Commercial Lunar Payload Services program.
