Requirements
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant estimating experience.
  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field, or equivalence of relevant trade experience.
  • Ability and experience to perform quantity surveys in two and three dimensions.
  • Ability to maintain and write databases for concrete-related estimates.
  • Adaptive technical knowledge required to meet changing industry needs.
  • Periodic travel may be required.
  • Able to access and navigate offices and jobsites.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee estimating and preconstruction logistics coordination with the Operations team for self-perform concrete opportunities in Las Vegas, Phoenix, and Southern California.
  • Delegate and review contract documents, including structural, architectural, civil, landscape, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical plans, specifications, and soils reports.
  • Oversee or prepare quantity surveys for concrete and concrete-related items.
  • Review quotations for required concrete strengths and form suppliers for systems in cooperation with the Operations team assigned to the project.
  • Oversee development of Concrete General Conditions and General Requirements with the Operations team and Project Lead Estimator.
  • Ensure lumber suppliers are contacted in a timely manner and review current lumber and plywood pricing quotations.
  • Evaluate equipment quotations from crane and concrete pumping vendors.
  • Participate in meetings with the Operations team to review preliminary estimates and discuss production rates and formwork systems.
  • Review concrete estimates, including man-hours, labor production, equipment production, materials, and subcontractor pricing, with the Vice President of All 5's Construction.
  • Monitor weekly labor reports and communicate with Operations to understand causes of estimate variances.
  • Review reports on production of various concrete tasks by Lead Estimators.
  • Lead required interdepartmental meetings and project handoffs.
  • Maintain and build working relationships with clients, peers, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Stay apprised of new construction systems and methods in the concrete industry.
  • Attend the annual World of Concrete and other forums to obtain and bring innovation into the company.
  • Encourage and assess new purchasing opportunities from the Estimating team to support continued modernization.
  • Train and mentor employees seeking to expand their knowledge and advance their careers.
  • Perform the role as an exempt position that does not qualify for overtime pay.
  • Meet the stated physical requirements, including sitting, standing, walking, lifting up to 15 pounds occasionally, and navigating offices and jobsites.
