Requirements
  • Experience as a Master Mariner or Chief Officer for LNG carriers or other liquefied-gas ships.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Loading Master in LNG terminals.
  • Experience in floating LNG facilities; FSRU and FSU experience will be considered.
  • Experience with marine assurance activities such as vessel compatibility assessments, SIRE inspections, and MTMSA.
  • General experience in marine activities related to LNG terminal operations, including contracting marine services, agency, pilotage, and marine logistics.
  • The right to work in Canada is preferred.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • An unlimited Master Mariner certificate or unlimited Chief/Cargo Officer certificates.
  • Dangerous-cargo endorsements for liquefied-gas, oil, or chemical tankers.
  • The ability to identify problems and implement solutions.
  • The ability to work across a broad interface-management role and collaborate with multiple disciplines.
  • The ability to solve technical problems and assess how solutions affect the immediate problem and the wider system.
  • Flexibility to work varying hours, overtime, holidays, and weekends as required by ship schedules.
  • Compliance with the company's drug-free, harassment-free, safety, and procedural requirements.
  • Good organizational, computer, and communication skills in a team environment.
  • Expertise with computer programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Navisworks, and Adobe Acrobat.
Responsibilities
  • Support implementation of long-term marine service-provider agreements covering tugs, personnel transport, and logistics.
  • Ensure implementation of TERMPOL and other marine-related recommendations and commitments before operations begin.
  • Support development of the marine training plan.
  • Provide input to the marine budget and manage related costs.
  • Lead and participate in developing marine operating procedures, the terminal operations manual, and marine emergency and security plans.
  • Provide technical support for other marine services required for plant operations.
  • Assist with commissioning and start-up of the terminal's marine facilities, cooldown, and first cargo.
  • Act as the terminal representative for LNG carrier mooring and cargo operations, ensuring safe and compliant execution.
  • Coordinate vessel-terminal activities and maintain effective communication to address operational issues.
  • Act as an alternate Port Facility Security Officer.
  • Manage pre-arrival correspondence and checks; supervise berthing, mooring, and unberthing of LNG tankers; conduct security declarations, pre-load meetings, pre-load safety inspections, periodic safety inspections, and cargo documentation.
  • Maintain marine operational oversight of cargo transfer operations and attend critical activities to ensure safe and timely loading.
  • Witness cargo surveys and gather information supporting commercial deliverables.
  • Maintain LNG tanker compatibility studies and support marine-assurance vessel pre-approval activities.
  • Provide technical support to the logistics team and inspect contracted service boats, barges, and supply vessels as needed.
  • Provide marine expertise for trim and stability management of floating storage tanks.
  • Perform duties as part of the company's emergency-response command team.
  • Participate in HSSE activities and support Operations Excellence initiatives and capability development.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in floating LNG facilities is preferred; FSRU and FSU experience will be considered.
  • Candidates with FLNG experience may be eligible for relocation assistance.
