Requirements
  • Three or more years of experience in an IT support, service desk, or IT technician role, ideally progressing from L1 to L2; strong candidates with slightly less experience will be considered.
  • Hands-on administration experience with Microsoft 365 and Entra ID (Azure Active Directory).
  • Endpoint management experience with Intune, Jamf, Kandji, or a comparable mobile device management platform.
  • Experience supporting both Windows and macOS users.
  • Ability to take ownership of tickets, drive them to resolution, and communicate clearly throughout.
  • Ability to work at pace across several concurrent issues without loss of accuracy.
  • A disciplined approach to process and documentation in a regulated environment.
  • Right to work in the United Kingdom.
Responsibilities
  • Own the internal support queue in Jira by triaging, prioritising, resolving, and maintaining clear ticket updates throughout.
  • Work to agreed response and resolution service-level agreements, escalating or flagging tickets at risk of breach in advance.
  • Handle high-volume access requests, including password and multifactor authentication resets, account lockouts, licence and permission changes, and shared mailbox and distribution list administration.
  • Produce and maintain runbooks so recurring issues are resolved consistently.
  • Provision, image, enrol, and dispatch laptops across a mixed Windows and macOS estate using Microsoft Intune and Kandji.
  • Deliver joiner, mover, and leaver processes end to end, including timely access revocation and device wipe or recovery on exit.
  • Maintain an accurate asset register covering ownership, location, encryption state, and patch status.
  • Manage software deployment, updates, and patch compliance across all endpoints.
  • Administer Microsoft 365 and Entra ID day to day, including users, groups, licensing, Exchange Online, Teams, and conditional access under supervision.
  • Apply least-privilege principles, maintain accurate group membership, and support periodic access reviews.
  • Support the certification and audit programme, including ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials Plus, the NHS Data Security and Protection Toolkit, and DTAC assessments, through evidence collection, remediation of findings, and maintenance of audit-ready asset and access records.
  • Respond to client and prospect security questionnaires and due-diligence requests alongside the wider team.
  • Monitor patching and endpoint hardening against the control baseline and resolve exceptions.
  • Assist with security reviews of new software requests and incident response as required.
  • Progress into systems administration by taking on automation, identity and access, cloud infrastructure, resilience, and compliance ownership responsibilities as capability is demonstrated.
  • Use PowerShell and Bash scripting to remove repetitive work, then contribute to Jira automation, reporting, and workflow design across the service desk.
  • Develop ownership of conditional-access policy, privileged-role design, and the access-review cycle.
  • Gain structured exposure to the AWS environment, beginning with IAM, tagging, and patch compliance through Systems Manager, and extending into networking, monitoring, and cost management.
  • Participate in backup and restore testing, business continuity planning, and incident response, initially in support and later as owner of defined runbooks.
  • Take the lead on specific control areas within the certification programme.
  • Work regularly with the Systems Administrator and receive support for relevant certifications and study.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience supporting ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials, the NHS Data Security and Protection Toolkit, DTAC, SOC 2, or comparable compliance frameworks.
  • Scripting experience in PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
  • Working knowledge of DNS, DHCP, VPN, and firewall fundamentals.
  • Exposure to AWS or a clear appetite to develop AWS skills.
  • Jira administration or automation experience.
  • A background in healthcare, fintech, or another sector handling sensitive personal data.

Abtrace provides an AI-powered platform that integrates with NHS GP EHRs (EMIS, SystmOne) to shift care from reactive to proactive by spotting patients due for monitoring or treatment in chronic diseases. It uses machine learning and NLP to analyze records and automatically trigger patient recalls via SMS and email, presenting clinicians with a single view of a patient’s needs. This NHS-embedded solution is already deployed across hundreds of practices for millions of patients, with a focus on consolidated care planning and antimicrobial stewardship. Its goal is to save clinicians’ time, reduce repeat appointments, and improve the safety and quality of primary care.

What believers are saying

  • Abtrace's website updated August 14, 2026 shows active product shipping and iteration.
  • Its 2026 webinars and case studies signal demand from NHS primary care practices.
  • The NHS 10-Year Plan response aligns Abtrace with preventive care priorities for 2026-2030.

What critics are saying

  • EMIS and SystmOne control integrations; API changes in 2026 can disrupt deployments.
  • NHS England procurement and ICB budget cycles delay rollouts through 2027.
  • Epic, EMIS, or SystmOne bundling native recall erases Abtrace's standalone value.

What makes Abtrace unique

  • Daily EHR-layer automation inside EMIS and SystmOne is Abtrace's core moat.
  • By 2026, Abtrace claims coverage across 42 ICS regions and 6 million patients.
  • Its proactive recall combines monitoring, booking, coding, and analytics in one workflow.
