Requirements
  • Medical Doctorate or equivalent degree.
  • Board eligibility or board certification in Ophthalmology.
  • Successful completion of a surgical Cornea fellowship.
  • A license in the State of Kansas or eligibility for licensure in Kansas.
  • Experience in a clinical and surgical Cornea practice and operating room settings.
Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive ophthalmology clinics and cornea surgery services.
  • Participate in the didactic teaching program, including supervising medical students and residents.
  • Participate in the shared rotation of call coverage, inpatient consults, and JayDoc clinics.
  • Maintain a professional and courteous relationship with patients as monitored by the hospital's patient experience survey.
  • Serve on departmental committees and provide other service to the School of Medicine and the University as needed.
  • Participate in clinical research and scientific presentations at national and regional meetings as appropriate with the academic track.
  • Provide clinical and surgical services to the Veterans Affairs facility and/or other sites under a Professional Services Agreement with The University of Kansas Health System.

  • An academic background involving teaching with an interest in clinical or basic research.
  • Experience growing personal research programs and obtaining funding from public and private sources.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously and manage competing and shifting priorities.
