Requirements
  • At least 8 years of multimedia storytelling, video editing, and production experience at a major video outlet or production company.
  • Experience creating original videos that incorporate audio, video, still images, graphics, animation, and text.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Excellent news judgment and the ability to work with colleagues and reporters to synthesize newsgathering or investigations into a tight, informative, and engaging video.
  • Facility in using photography, video, audio, graphics, and animation in storytelling.
  • A strong grasp of vertical video storytelling, with creative ideas and the ability to work on small or large teams.
  • The ability to handle newsroom deadlines and juggle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • A portfolio and work samples demonstrating vertical video storytelling, creative ideas, technical ability, and news judgment.
  • A commitment to journalistic independence and the mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world.
Responsibilities
  • Script, produce, edit, and publish a formatted series of vertical videos.
  • Oversee the work of cinematographers, editors, and other collaborators.
  • Identify news and enterprise opportunities across the news report and develop journalistically powerful and visually transformative stories.
  • Collaborate with visual editors to develop video formats that bring journalism to new audiences.
  • Work closely with video leaders and newsroom reporters to ensure the work follows newsroom standards.
  • Handle newsroom deadlines and juggle multiple projects at any given time.
  • Produce videos with desks across the newsroom, including the International desk, investigations, global news, features, enterprise, and culture and lifestyle reporting.
  • Report to a Senior Producer on the Reporter Video team in New York City.
Desired Qualifications
  • Meet deadlines and adapt to change within an unpredictable news and production environment.
  • Video editing skills with Adobe Premiere.
  • Design and animation skills using Figma, Illustrator, Photoshop, and After Effects, with knowledge of typography, layout, color, motion, and behavior.
  • Advanced knowledge of current events and deep experience covering breaking news stories in the United States and internationally.
  • Experience working collaboratively with members of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience producing shoots and interviewing experts on camera.
  • Cinematography skills.
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule.
