Requirements
  • Secretarial or medical records training.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple systems.
  • Intermediate experience with personal computers and common software packages, including Word for Windows, CorelDRAW, Lotus, Excel, and Visio.
  • Ability to interact with professional and medical staff, patients and families, and the general public.
  • Knowledge of growth and development across the life span.
  • Knowledge, experience, and competency working with adults in rehabilitation and geriatric age groups.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while coordinating multiple tasks.
Responsibilities
  • Perform various duties for the rehabilitation services division.
  • Provide secretarial support to the Director of Rehabilitation Services and rehabilitation staff, including occupational therapy, physical therapy, therapeutic recreation, clinical dietetics, and outpatient staff as requested.
  • Implement and maintain personnel records and calculate payroll for rehabilitation services division staff.
  • Assist with medical record keeping, including admission and discharge coordination.
  • Perform data processing, database, desktop publishing, word processing, and spreadsheet applications using personal computers.
  • Process doctors' orders for the rehabilitation services division.
  • Process travel reimbursements for rehabilitation services division staff.
  • Maintain and balance petty cash for the rehabilitation services division.
  • Handle general telephone responsibilities.
  • Order, maintain inventory, stock, and price all rehabilitation equipment, including billable and non-billable items.
  • Calculate patient equipment purchases from the rehabilitation services division.
  • Take meeting minutes for inpatient rehabilitation meetings and hospital-wide task forces involving inpatient rehabilitation staff; type, file, and distribute the minutes to staff.
  • Assist with new employee orientation to the inpatient rehabilitation department, including establishing employee files, adding employees to disaster listings, and preparing other internal reports.
  • Maintain licensing and cardiopulmonary resuscitation records and reports.
  • Assist with the review and revision of inpatient, outpatient, policy and procedure, and guideline manuals.
  • Establish, design, and implement forms as requested.
  • Maintain an efficient working environment, including the functional operation of copiers, printers, and personal computers.
