The Lead Radiology Registrar provides day-to-day support for the Radiology Registrars, acting as a subject matter and technical expert, systems super user, primary escalation point and preceptor. Perform a variety of patient care activities, including prompt and accurate handling of scheduling, registration, patient requests, escalations and customer service recovery. Assists in reporting of technical or workflow concerns to the management team. Shares and provides real time resolution to staff.
Job Description
Essential Functions
- Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
- Train, provide feedback and coach radiology registrars in support of their adherence and productivity goals. Handle escalated patient issues, ensure radiology registrar's are providing optimal service and are in compliance with Jefferson Health policies and procedures, including Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and protected health information (PHI) at all times.
- Utilize Electronic Medical Record (EMR) to scub schedules, complete scheduling, registration, confirm appointments, verify demographic information, run medical necessity, answer inquiries and resolve user issues in accordance with established protocols to ensure patient safety, compliance and departmental policies and procedures.
- Coordinate referrals and insurance requirements by obtaining and/or confirming patient information to ensure the patient receives maximum benefits for services. Assure regulatory and compliance requirements following local payor coverage determinations.
- Utilize software system to answer, coordinate, track, and monitor interactions across multiple channels of communication.
- Instructs the patient regarding preparations, pre -screens for radiologic examination using guide sheet posted at reception area. Alerts appropriate personnel of each patient's arrival and awaits acknowledgment that message has been received.
- Maintain qualitative and quantitative individual and team performance targets
- Support, guide Registrars and manage the workflow of day-to-day operations. Ensure that Registrars meets performance metrics and manage escalated interactions by following established protocols to ensure patient safety and data integrity.
Competencies (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required):
Proficient in the use of computers. Type 35 wpm. Knowledge of medical terminology used by insurance and managed care health plans. Bilingual skills a plus. Knowledge of imaging procedures.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Education:
HS Diploma or equivalent
AND
Experience:
3+ years of related experience required.
Minimum Certifications, Registration or License Requirements:
CPR certification preferred
Additional Information
Complete knowledge and understanding of the scheduling and registration of physician practices and service lines across the Jefferson Health System in accordance with established clinical and insurance requirements to improve access and care coordination.
