Requirements
  • A high school diploma is required.
  • Knowledge of medical insurance and healthcare regulations is required.
  • Supervisory experience is required, preferably in Patient Access, and must be in a healthcare setting.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel is required.
  • Must be able to communicate with staff, patients, nurses, physicians, management, and patients' families in a pleasant, courteous, and diplomatic manner.
  • Must be able to perform a variety of tasks subject to frequent changes and accommodate changes in the work schedule because of staffing issues.
Responsibilities
  • Report to the Manager/Director of the department.
  • Supervise the registration staff day to day and assist with problems, questions, or concerns in the emergency department registration area.
  • Ensure accurate patient demographic and financial information is obtained.
  • Ensure all regulatory and payer requirements are met to support compliant registration and billable/payable claims.
  • Provide consents and regulatory patient information to all patients.
  • Assist with scheduling staff.
  • Assist the Patient Access Manager with orientation, training, and policy development and updates, and ensure that all staff are informed of these updates.
  • Work closely with nurses and physicians in the emergency department.
  • Maintain quality assurance on employees' registrations.
Desired Qualifications
  • Some college is preferred.
  • Supervisory experience in Patient Access is preferred.
