Maintenance Worker
About the job
- At least one year of maintenance and cleaning experience in a large residential or program setting.
- Good interpersonal skills are required.
- Maintain cleanliness in assigned areas within the facility, including floor care, bathroom cleaning, trash and recycling removal, window and wall cleaning, and stairway cleaning.
- Carry out minor repairs and building maintenance throughout assigned facility areas.
- Perform exterior snow and ice removal and maintain the grounds, including sidewalks, landscaping, and other building exterior areas.
- Set up chairs and tables for special events and ensure event areas are clean and safe.
- Maintain building maintenance tools and machinery in good working condition.
- When the program does not have a superintendent, order cleaning supplies, paper supplies, lightbulbs, garbage bags, and other supplies, and maintain biweekly inventory.
- Move and store program supplies, office furniture, office equipment, dorm furniture, consumer belongings, and other items around the facility when appropriate.
- Comply with S:US employee policies, procedures, protocols, and cooperative compliance policies.
- Assist when emergencies arise in the facility.
- Wear the S:US maintenance uniform and keep it clean and presentable at the start of each shift.
- Complete other tasks assigned by the Director or Superintendent.
- Attend staff meetings, group supervision, and trainings as needed.
- Assist with apartment turnover after move-outs by plastering, sanding walls, painting, and transporting residents and property to new apartments or units.
- Assist the Superintendent with building maintenance.
- A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
- Bilingual English and Spanish speaking is preferred.
- Experience working within a supportive housing setting is beneficial.
