Requirements
  • Certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy.
  • An active and unrestricted license to practice as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant in New York State.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification or willingness to obtain it before starting.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Responsibilities
  • Provide occupational therapy services according to the established Plan of Care developed by the supervising Occupational Therapist.
  • Assist patients in developing, improving, or restoring functions in activities of daily living, instrumental activities of daily living, mobility, and home safety.
  • Implement therapeutic activities, adaptive techniques, and equipment training under Occupational Therapist direction.
  • Observe and document patient progress and communicate changes in condition to the supervising Occupational Therapist and interdisciplinary team.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary case conferences and supervisory support as needed.
  • Educate patients and caregivers on techniques to improve safety, independence, and function at home.
  • Maintain accurate and timely electronic documentation in compliance with agency, state, and federal guidelines.
  • Comply with all Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act regulations and policies.
  • Travel to patient homes within assigned geographic areas.
Desired Qualifications
  • Previous experience in home health or geriatrics is preferred but not required.
