Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Automotive experience is required.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information.
  • A valid driver's license and good driving record are required.
  • Ability to use a computer and calculator; training will be provided on the parts department computer inventory system.
  • Ability to communicate well orally and in writing with customers, vendors, and other contacts.
  • Ability to maintain a professional personal appearance.
  • Ability to lift and transport parts weighing more than 50 pounds several times a day.
  • Ability to move throughout the parts and service departments for up to eight hours per shift and perform climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, and feeling.
  • Ability to work in environments with noise, dust, exhaust fumes, and hazardous and non-hazardous materials.
Responsibilities
  • Provide polite, knowledgeable, prompt, friendly, and professional customer service by phone and in person.
  • Deliver parts to local garages, customers, and vendors, and pick up parts and equipment from customers and vendors as coordinated with the Parts Manager, Parts Sales Consultant, and Parts Counter personnel.
  • Keep shelves stocked and presentable and maintain orderly, clean, and hazard-free work areas and facility spaces.
  • Fill technician parts requests timely and accurately using all available means.
  • Complete Additional Service Recommendations quote requests accurately.
  • Pre-stage parts for work orders.
  • Load the parts van with customer parts.
  • Perform maintenance and safety checks on the delivery vehicle.
  • Assist walk-in customers in selecting required parts, suggest companion requirements, offer specials, and present the full product line.
  • Pull purchased parts from stock.
  • Determine part availability and submit emergency orders when requested by the customer.
  • Answer phone calls and provide price quotes and other information.
  • Set up orders for daily shipment, delivery, or pickup.
  • Assist service technicians in selecting parts needed for repairs in process.
  • Order out-of-stock parts after discussion with the manager when the parts will be used upon receipt or the customer will return for them.
  • Notify the appropriate people when ordered parts are received.
  • Complete a delivery log and obtain the recipient's signature.
  • Unload the truck at the end of the shift and turn in paperwork and undelivered parts.
  • Maintain the delivery vehicle by checking the oil at each fill-up and ensuring it is in good working order.
  • Report all accidents immediately to the Manager and Human Resources.
  • Pick up and return vehicles for service customers as needed.
  • Issue credits for returned parts after verifying the original invoice or invoice number; obtain Parts Manager approval for exceptions.
  • Ensure customers sign all charge sales.
  • Keep front and rear counter areas clean and uncluttered.
  • Replenish assigned inventory daily and advise the Parts Manager when department areas are unsatisfactory.
  • Stay current on new products and product updates.
  • Participate in available training programs.
  • Participate with the Parts Manager in maintaining a Lost Sale Tracking program.
  • Record invoice-payment details, including payment method, check number when applicable, payment amount, recipient, date, and change given.
  • Pull and sort parts for returns.
