What WithGarage.com does: It runs an online marketplace that helps fire departments buy and sell used fire service equipment. It acts as an intermediary that lists surplus gear (from helmets and nozzles to large apparatus), connects buyers and sellers, and processes secure transactions. How it works: Departments list items for sale, buyers browse, and purchases are completed through the platform with protections for both sides. The company earns transaction fees charged to sellers and may offer financing options through partnerships, enabling purchases for more expensive equipment. How it differs from competitors: The focus is a niche market serving fire departments, providing a trusted, user-friendly, secure marketplace with buyer and seller protections and financing options tailored to fire equipment needs. Its goal: simplify procurement and disposal of surplus fire gear, helping departments manage budgets while ensuring access to needed equipment through a reliable marketplace.

What believers are saying

  • TechCrunch reported Garage raised $13.5 million Series A on August 20, 2025.
  • FireRescue1 reported departments using Garage as apparatus costs and delays surged in March 2026.
  • South Charleston partnered with 36 West Virginia departments and sold three trucks, April 2026.

What critics are saying

  • Fire apparatus antitrust litigation against manufacturers expanded in 2026, strengthening incumbent replacement sales.
  • GovDeals and Facebook groups already supply used gear, compressing Garage's liquidity and pricing power.
  • If departments reject cross-state online procurement, Garage's marketplace stalls before national scale.

What makes Garage unique

  • Garage automates appraisals, freight quotes, payments, and paperwork across all 50 states.
  • Fire departments sold three trucks for $1.2 million through Garage in April 2026.
  • It targets emergency equipment, unlike GovDeals or Facebook groups, with buyer protections.
