Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited X-ray Technologist program.
  • Four to six months of experience as an X-ray Technologist.
  • Ability to explain the procedure, process and position patients for X-rays, adjust restriction devices, move and adjust equipment to set exposure factors, determine X-ray needs from physician instructions, and perform basic general X-rays under physician supervision.
  • Ability to use beam-restricting devices and patient-shielding techniques to minimize radiation exposure to patients and staff, and process exposed radiographs using film processors or computer-generated methods.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills; strong communication and bedside manner.
  • High attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Functional and practical knowledge of various computer systems.
  • Basic Life Support certification required at the time of hire.
  • Bilingual language skills are required or preferred depending on site location.
  • For internal candidates, good performance and standing under company policy are required.
Responsibilities
  • Take good-quality X-ray images in accordance with CityMD X-ray protocols efficiently and accurately.
  • Document patient encounters accurately and in detail in the electronic medical record in a timely manner, including documentation for multiple patients per hour.
  • Perform common X-ray studies within the suggested timeframes: chest X-rays in 3 minutes; extremity X-rays in 3–5 minutes per order; spinal X-rays in 4–6 minutes; and abdomen X-rays in 4–6 minutes.
  • Use internal X-ray and care-coordination software to document and communicate X-ray studies between the provider, Aftercare, and radiologists reading the X-rays.
  • Facilitate necessary diagnostic tests, including CT, MRI, and ultrasound, and referrals to medical specialists for follow-up care through Aftercare.
  • Assist the physician with medical procedures within the Scribe scope of practice, including EKGs and procedure set-ups.
  • Communicate with patients, pharmacies, and physicians by phone under physician guidance.
  • Under the licensed practitioner's direct and personal supervision, assist with trained CLIA-waived tests and EKGs, handle external laboratory specimens, and provide assistance maintaining limb position for sling support.
  • Track supplies needed to copy images to CDs for patients and notify the Medical Assistant or Site Manager before supplies run out.
  • Maintain an accurate, up-to-date quality-assurance logbook, including the pregnancy form and daily checklist.
  • Know whom to contact in the event of equipment failure or software issues.
  • Assist Medical Assistants with facility stocking when needed.
  • Assist with training and acclimating new-hire X-ray technologists and scribes.
  • Provide compassionate care to patients.

Walgreens Boots Alliance-backed healthcare clinic chain VillageMD is reportedly working with advisers to explore a sale, restructuring or other options. This move comes after Walgreens CEO Tim Wentworth said during a January earnings call that the company plans to divest VillageMD, Bloomberg reported Wednesday (Feb. 12). A Walgreens spokesperson told Bloomberg that Walgreens “is continuing to work toward executing its stated goal of securing an endpoint for its investment in VillageMD, consistent with Walgreens’ turnaround strategy.”
