About the company

ACLU of Kentucky defends the constitutional rights and civil liberties of people across the state through litigation, legislative advocacy, and community organizing. Its work addresses racial justice, reproductive freedom, voting rights, and the treatment of immigrants and people caught in the criminal justice system. Staff coordinate volunteers and partner with community groups, while attorneys represent clients without charging for legal services. Donations, grants, bequests, and court-awarded legal fees fund its work, and a board elected by members governs the organization. Founded in 1955, the nonprofit is headquartered in Louisville, Kentucky, and is an independently governed affiliate of the national ACLU.
