Requirements
  • High school education with 9+ years of experience or commensurate experience.
  • An active TS/SCI clearance.
  • DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification.
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform and Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience with containerization technologies.
  • Experience with microservice network architecture.
  • Experience troubleshooting and resolving technical problems with on-site and remote administrators.
  • Ability to communicate technical ideas, deliver briefings with cross-functional teams, work in a high-demand environment, and provide technical expertise across all phases of systems engineering activities.
  • An active and current U.S. driver's license.
Responsibilities
  • Design, build, automate, test, and sustain mission-critical network infrastructure supporting deployed and enterprise operations.
  • Maintain expert-level awareness of current and emerging technologies through research of technical manuals, vendor documentation, security advisories, and open-source resources.
  • Evaluate and recommend hardware and software versions by validating installation requirements, defects and bugs, security bulletins and patches, legacy-system compatibility, power constraints including PoE, environmental and thermal limitations, and end-user interoperability including SFP module compatibility.
  • Collaborate with the JEDI team to enable bare-metal provisioning of Red Hat Enterprise Linux servers using Kickstart-based automation for rapid PXE-style deployments.
  • Build secure network nodes from bare metal, including firmware and software upgrades, secure configuration baselines, tunnel establishment, and performance optimization.
  • Conduct network connectivity testing, end-user behavior analysis, and troubleshooting to ensure throughput and reliability.
  • Coordinate with J6 functional areas when deploying new sites.
  • Work directly with customers to make installations plug-and-play and enable rapid deployment within constrained logistical timelines.
  • Develop and maintain MFS Medium v2 and MFS Heavy configurations and baselines.
  • Identify and resolve network configuration errors and provide validated solutions to the network automation team for code integration and deployment.
  • Isolate and resolve network architecture, protocol, and failure-mode issues.
  • Configure, manage, troubleshoot, and enforce versions and best practices for encryption equipment and encryptors.
  • Diagnose encryption issues using customer-reported symptoms and operational context.
  • Perform off-site communications checks and equipment upgrades, including installation and airflow optimization to prevent overheating and equipment degradation.
  • Provide expedited remote support to traveling customers, including Cisco CLI commands to restore communications.
  • Detect and communicate probable hardware failures at distant ends during outage scenarios.
  • Assist with baselining and testing MFS kits under tight timelines or when hardware or software issues are suspected.
  • Collaborate with customers, ECS, and Tier units to troubleshoot connectivity issues and deliver targeted technical training.
  • Use Nautobot, AWX, Active Directory, Forward Networks, Splunk, and ServiceNow in daily operations.
  • Provide on-site support for emergent taskings, including after-hours operations.

  • Experience developing tactical, expeditionary cross-domain solutions to deliver full-motion video across different environments, enclaves, and networks.
  • Experience designing, installing, configuring, and troubleshooting expeditionary, global, regional, and disconnected networks, including internal LAN traffic, WAN, satellite communications, commercial leased lines, long-haul circuits, distributed packet processing, data compression, encryption, and data transport systems.
  • Experience evaluating projected network usage and reviewing utilization reports.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies and Agile teams using collaboration tools such as GitLab.
  • Experience with configuration-management tools, including GitLab and Git-centric CI/CD workflows.
  • Knowledge of network engineering in cloud and disconnected edge environments.
  • Knowledge of Python scripting, writing Ansible playbooks, rudimentary APIs, or automation scripts.
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code.
