WaFd bringing holding company headquarters to Bellevue.

WaFd bringing holding company headquarters to Bellevue. * Gunner Stuns * Sep 17, 2026 WaFd, Inc., the parent company of WaFd Bank, is moving its holding company headquarters away from Seattle and into Bellevue, with downtown as the likely landing place, according to Downtown Bellevue Network. The move is expected to be completed within 18 months, wherein the company will open at its new location. "Likely downtown, but it will be dependent on finding the right space," President and CEO Brent Beardall was quoted as saying in the BDN article. According to Beardall, the reason for the location change had to do with staying in the state rather than leaving it. He also cited a phrase attributed to the Bellevue developer Kemper Freeman, Jr.: "clean, safe, free parking." "I think it is also important for us to stay connected to the state of Washington," Beardall said. "With so many businesses exiting because of the fiscal climate, we want to stay and be part of the long term solution - which is a sustainable budget that allows families, communities and businesses to flourish." WaFd plans to keep its Seattle location at 425 Pike Street, but that office will see changes as staff move east. According to Beardall, the company had been constrained there. "As part of this process we will be asking our teams to come back to the office full time, so the additional space in Bellevue will provide needed capacity for our teams," Beardall said. WaFd will be entering a downtown Bellevue office market that has been "absorbing" large blocks rather than adding them, the Downtown Bellevue Network noted. Vacancy fell to 23.2% in the second quarter of 2026, with The Pokemon Co.'s 369,800-square-foot occupancy as the single largest driver of the improvement. Earlier this month, Bungie listed 210,984 square feet at The Bellevue Connection for subrelease in September. The move to Bellevue for WaFd, Inc., comes on the heels of an announced merger with the Jacksonville-based EverBank Financial Corp., which 425 Business covered previously here.

WaFd Bank shares fall 3.1% despite beating Q1 forecasts amid growth concerns

WaFd Bank shares fell 3.1% despite reporting first-quarter results that beat Wall Street expectations. The regional bank posted revenue of $197.4 million, up 10% year-over-year, and adjusted earnings per share of $0.83, exceeding the $0.75 analyst consensus. Key metrics including net interest income and net interest margin came in stronger than anticipated. However, the positive quarterly performance was overshadowed by investor concerns about the bank's longer-term growth trajectory. Analysts noted the bank's modest revenue growth over the past five years and forecast potential demand weakness over the next 12 months. The shares closed at $38.12, near their 52-week high of $39.32.
