  • An Associate’s degree in Engineering; Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering is preferred.
  • Three to five years of experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, or distribution center environment, including direct experience implementing, maintaining, and operating automation, programmable logic controllers, and packaging equipment.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and comprehend English.
  • Must have good math skills, including the ability to work with fractions, decimals, and percentages.
  • Must be able to develop process expertise to facilitate troubleshooting.
  • Must be able to maintain an excellent attendance record.
  • Must have expert experience in automation, programmable logic controllers, and robotics.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills, effective oral and written communication skills, and proficiency in computer applications.
  • Must have knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations and guidelines and the ability to prepare and maintain required documentation.

Responsibilities
  • Actively participate in the Sika SAFE Program.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment in accordance with the Sika Housekeeping policy.
  • Manage vendors and contractors to ensure compliance with Sika’s health, safety, and behavior standards and monitor progress toward project completion within the agreed timeframe and budget.
  • Design, develop, program, troubleshoot, and maintain programmable logic controller-based control systems, human-machine interface applications, robotics, industrial networks, instrumentation, and machine vision systems.
  • Develop, modify, and support programmable logic controller programs using Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or equivalent platforms.
  • Configure and troubleshoot variable frequency drives, servo systems, safety programmable logic controllers, distributed input/output, and industrial communication networks.
  • Interpret and review electrical drawings, piping and instrumentation diagrams, process flow diagrams, and equipment specifications.
  • Tune proportional-integral-derivative loops and optimize process control strategies for manufacturing equipment and processes.
  • Manage some projects from start to finish, including Capital Appropriation Requests with project budgets, savings, timelines, runoff criteria, status reporting, system implementation, and other project details.
  • Implement changes in existing production processes, equipment, and facilities, and engineer new processes to increase output capacity and reduce or eliminate bottlenecks.
  • Review new and existing machine and equipment layouts to obtain optimal performance, and recommend and implement changes.
  • Identify and conceptualize primarily mixing and packaging systems, and at times other automated solutions, to improve safety, ergonomics, quality, productivity, and cost throughout operations.
  • Gather lessons learned and best practices to streamline future projects.
  • Program, troubleshoot, and support automated systems, including programmable logic controller-based controllers, networking solutions, and camera vision systems.
  • Create procedures, documentation, routings, and other necessary process documentation.
  • Collaborate and communicate cross-functionally with all levels of the organization, including operators, research and development, quality assurance, supply management, and executive management.
  • Serve as the technical expert in controls equipment and automation while mentoring and training others in the technical aspects of automation systems.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as needed or directed in support of the Company’s automation strategy.
  • Perform other work and projects as required by the Maintenance & Engineering Manager.

Sika targets doubling Akkim sales in 5 years as adhesive tech drives growth

Sika, a globally leading specialty chemicals company, successfully placed an inaugural hybrid capital bond (fixed rate resettable subordinated debt) with a total amount of EUR 1 billion split into two EUR 500 million tranches. The hybrid bonds were placed into the European institutional fixed income investor base with Citigroup acting as Global Coordinator and BofA Securities, Citigroup, and UBS Investment Bank as active bookrunners. The new securities will be listed on the regulated market of Euronext Dublin. Lenz & Staehelin acted as Swiss counsel to Sika. Sika places $1.1B hybrid bond to support acquisitions and maintain A- rating

Sika has successfully placed a €1 billion hybrid capital bond, split into two €500 million tranches. The bonds were placed with European institutional fixed income investors, with Citigroup as Global Coordinator and BofA Securities, Citigroup, and UBS Investment Bank as active bookrunners. The first tranche is a 30NC5.75-year hybrid bond with a 4.375% annual coupon and first call date on 26 February 2032. The second is a 30NC8.75-year hybrid bond with a 4.875% annual coupon and first call date on 26 February 2035. The transaction is structured to receive 50% equity treatment at S&P and supports Sika's A- issuer rating. Net proceeds will be used for general corporate purposes, including financing bolt-on acquisitions and refinancing existing debt. The bonds will be listed on Euronext Dublin.

Sika posts 4% revenue growth, upgrades outlook to 3-6% for 2026

Sika reported 4% local currency revenue growth in the first half of the year, reaching CHF 5.59 billion in sales. The Swiss construction chemicals company achieved organic growth of 2.9% and an acquisition effect of 1.1%. Second-quarter performance showed acceleration, with local currency growth reaching 6.8% and organic growth hitting 5.7%. The material margin increased 60 basis points year on year to 55.7%. EBITDA reached CHF 1.06 billion with a 19% margin. Net profit stood at CHF 552.1 million, whilst operating free cash flow totalled CHF 139.6 million. Sika upgraded its full-year outlook, now expecting 3% to 6% sales growth in local currencies and an EBITDA margin of 19% to 19.5%. The company's Fast Forward programme remains on track to deliver CHF 80 million in savings for 2026.
