- Wisconsin State-issued Certified Nursing Assistant certification, specifically Certified Nursing Assistant certification through the Wisconsin Nurse Aide Registry.
- Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association is required for Wisconsin work locations.

- Ability to work a full-time schedule of 40 hours per week on the day shift, with possible weekend and holiday shifts.
- Ability to operate nursing-care equipment according to user manuals, recognize common mechanical problems, and initiate appropriate corrective action.
- Ability to perform point-of-care testing according to policies and procedures.
- Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
- Ability to meet the listed physical requirements, including prolonged standing and walking, patient movement, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, gripping, keyboard use, and data entry.
- Receive patient-care assignments from the registered nurse in charge and initiate delegated tasks based on demonstrated competence for the patient age group served.
- Collect and document admission-assessment and reassessment data at specified times, and provide appropriate data to the licensed nurse for analysis and validation of the patient’s response to care or treatment and significant changes in condition.
- Relay information through charting and communication with team members.
- Inform the licensed nurse of changes in patient condition or needs, patient complaints, and patient or significant-other education needs.
- Answer patient calls for help; take vital signs; monitor patient behavior and physical condition for progress or deterioration; and assist with bathing, ambulation, feeding, skin care, personal and oral hygiene, and occupied and unoccupied bed making.
- Perform dressing changes, enemas, ostomy care, toileting, turning, cough and deep breathing exercises, catheter care, biological-specimen collection, and measurement and recording of fluid intake and output.
- Prepare patients for discharge and accompany them upon dismissal when indicated.
- Stock and maintain supplies and equipment according to patient-care needs and cost-containment requirements.
- Perform delegated clerical duties, including answering telephones, relaying messages, transcribing physician orders, and preparing and organizing patient medical records.
- Orient new patients and significant others to the nursing unit.
- Perform mechanical and manual operation of equipment according to user manuals, recognize common mechanical problems, and initiate appropriate corrective action.
- Perform point-of-care testing according to policies and procedures when applicable.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
