About the Job

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of experience in plumbing design, particularly using Autodesk Revit for drawing development.
  • Experience working across the entire construction process, from schematic design through construction administration, including reviewing submittals and shop drawings and conducting field work such as existing condition surveys, site observations, and punch lists.
  • Experience using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Teams.
  • Experience using Bluebeam.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced working environment.

Responsibilities

  • Execute plumbing design for mission-critical projects, including greenfield and brownfield data center facilities, fit-out packages for hyperscale and enterprise clients of colocation providers, data center campus planning, conceptual designs, feasibility studies, and system calculations.
  • Independently execute basic plumbing design projects, taking established design criteria through the generation of design plans and specifications for permitting and construction.
  • Contribute to larger or complex mission-critical projects as part of a plumbing design team under the guidance of a senior engineer.
  • Interface with internal design leads across electrical, telecommunications, fire protection, and mechanical disciplines, and external architectural, civil, and structural disciplines.
  • Coordinate with clients and design leads from all disciplines, and serve as the daily lead on smaller projects.
  • Use Autodesk Revit to produce detailed design documents from schematic design through construction.
  • Perform engineering calculations for sanitary, storm, and domestic water plumbing systems.
  • Select and specify plumbing equipment.
  • Meet project deadlines, including working necessary hours to complete major deliverables.
  • Understand local and national construction codes and project specifications and develop a broader understanding of the construction process.
  • Travel to project sites when required, approximately 10–20% of the time.
  • Communicate clearly with coworkers and clients in written and spoken forms.
  • Collaborate with departmental staff on various tasks.
  • Mentor and train junior engineers, designers, and modelers to develop the plumbing design knowledge base.
  • Organize work and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in plumbing design for larger industrial and commercial buildings is preferred; experience in mission-critical design is a plus.
  • Experience using construction management tools such as Procore and Autodesk Construction Cloud is preferred.
