- Clean and prepare surfaces by removing previous finishes through masking, grit blasting, pressure washing, tool cleaning, or chemical rinsing, then clean, smooth, and dry the surfaces.
- Prepare paint by using viscosity cups, thickness gauges, and gloss gauges to check paint composition and mixing the appropriate compounds; apply epoxy paint when required.
- Apply primers, pre-finishes, and finishing coats using spray equipment, airbrushes, stencils, rollers, or brushes.
- Use required safety equipment, including self-contained suits, self-contained breathing apparatus, or protective eyewear.
- Clean work areas and safely handle and dispose of hazardous chemicals and waste while minimizing overspray.
- Maintain and troubleshoot technical painting equipment.
- Monitor field painting conditions and document them for turnover packages.
- Perform mil thickness testing.
