Requirements
  • Experience in industrial equipment painting and process piping.
  • Experience with wet painting using a gun.
  • Experience with blasting and all types of blasting media, including sand, black beauty, and glass bead.
  • Understanding of National Association of Corrosion Engineers requirements.
  • Ability to gauge mil thickness application and document it using a mil thickness tester.
  • Ability to differentiate between colors.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools and equipment.
  • Ability to work with all levels of employees.
  • Strong communication skills.
Responsibilities
  • Clean and prepare surfaces by removing previous finishes through masking, grit blasting, pressure washing, tool cleaning, or chemical rinsing, then clean, smooth, and dry the surfaces.
  • Prepare paint by using viscosity cups, thickness gauges, and gloss gauges to check paint composition and mixing the appropriate compounds; apply epoxy paint when required.
  • Apply primers, pre-finishes, and finishing coats using spray equipment, airbrushes, stencils, rollers, or brushes.
  • Use required safety equipment, including self-contained suits, self-contained breathing apparatus, or protective eyewear.
  • Clean work areas and safely handle and dispose of hazardous chemicals and waste while minimizing overspray.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot technical painting equipment.
  • Monitor field painting conditions and document them for turnover packages.
  • Perform mil thickness testing.
