- Wound care certification as a Certified Wound Care Nurse or Certified Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nurse is strongly preferred.
- Current Massachusetts nursing license is required.
- Act as a role model for professional wound-care practice in the outpatient wound clinic and inpatient settings as necessary.
- Provide and coordinate patient care, including appropriate referrals for required services and necessary equipment to meet patients' wound-care needs.
- Participate in interdisciplinary meetings as appropriate.
- Evaluate equipment needs and make appropriate recommendations to the Director of Nursing and Clinical Services.
- Manage equipment by providing education and monitoring safety.
- Collaborate with affiliating agencies to meet the care needs of wound-care patients.
- Initiate nursing assessments of patients' conditions upon admission to the wound clinic.
- Assess and interpret reports and communicate findings to the assigned physician.
- Recognize and assess initial alterations in patients' body systems and communicate findings to other members of the healthcare team.
- Organize assessment data for accuracy, completeness, and confidentiality.
- Record assessment data in an orderly manner and communicate, revise, and verbalize pertinent information to healthcare team members.
- Assess, stage, and accurately measure wounds according to policy.
- Photograph wounds according to policy and procedure.
- Identify patient-care situations requiring intervention, implement nursing actions, and evaluate patient responses.
- Provide consultation to nursing staff and other healthcare professionals.
- Provide leadership in developing, implementing, and evaluating standards of practice within the specialty area.
- Collaborate with the Director of Nursing, Clinical Services, and the Coordinator of Performance Improvement to identify staff learning needs.
- Wound care certification as a Certified Wound Care Nurse or Certified Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nurse.
