- A Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-EAC accredited program is required.
- A minimum of five years of experience in Mechanical Engineering is required.
- Experience with computer-aided design software, including AutoCAD, is required.
- Experience with Mathcad computational software is required.
- The ability to obtain a Virginia Professional Engineer license within two years is required if not already licensed.
- Willingness to travel for short-term assignments on an as-needed basis is required.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a design team is required.
- The candidate must be highly motivated, detail- and goal-oriented, self-starting, and proficient in verbal and written communications.
- Perform mechanical design and inspections for movable bridges and other heavy movable structures.
- Prepare contract plans, special provisions, engineers' estimates, inspection reports, and technical memorandums.
- Review drawings and recommend necessary changes.
- Research design options and document findings for Project Managers.
- Perform a mixture of office and field work.
- A Virginia Professional Engineer license is preferred.
- Experience with MicroStation is preferred.
