About the company

URBN operates a global portfolio of lifestyle brands, including Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, Free People, Nuuly, Terrain, and Vetri Family, each serving a different customer niche with clothing, accessories, home goods, and experiences. Its brands run physical stores and online shops, while Nuuly offers a clothing rental subscription and Terrain focuses on garden and home products; Vetri Family runs restaurant concepts. This multi-brand approach lets URBN reach diverse shoppers under one umbrella instead of relying on a single brand. Its goal is to build long-term value by growing defined brands, expanding into related product areas, and exploring services like rental to support a circular economy.

URBN expands Bamboo Rose TotalPLM to show product costs at concept stage

Bamboo Rose, a product development and supply chain software provider, said global lifestyle company URBN is expanding its use of TotalPLM with Create, powered by VibeIQ and enhanced with Decision Intelligence. The addition lets design and merchandising teams across URBN's brands, including Anthropologie, Free People, FP Movement, Urban Outfitters, Nuuly, and Terrain, see estimated product costs at the concept stage. They get the figures before samples are made or suppliers are engaged. Teams can assess margin potential and compare options earlier. Approved concepts move into development without rekeying data. "Creative decisions shape margins long before a purchase order is placed," said Matt Stevens, chief executive officer of Bamboo Rose. Bamboo Rose will show TotalPLM at NRF 2027 in January, booth #4042.

Urban Outfitters stock up 194% since 2021: store growth and sales surge vs slower revenue

The retailer, which sells apparel and accessories to teens and young adults, ran 801 stores last quarter. Its store count has grown 5.2% a year over the past two years, faster than the wider consumer retail sector. Urban Outfitters closes 6 stores, opens 23 as it reshapes retail footprint

Urban Outfitters closed six company-owned stores in the six months ended 31 July 2026, including five in North America and one in Europe. The closures affected various brands in its portfolio, including Anthropologie, FP Movement, Urban Outfitters and Menus Venues. The company expects to close approximately 18 stores during fiscal year 2027 whilst opening around 54 new locations. The strategy focuses on selective adjustment rather than shrinking its physical footprint, with new stores featuring a refreshed concept designed for Gen Z shoppers. Urban Outfitters reported its eighth consecutive quarter of record sales and profits in its second quarter of fiscal 2027. The retailer is reallocating its physical presence towards locations and formats it believes can generate stronger customer engagement.
