Requirements
  • Certification by the American Association of Electronic Reporters and Transcribers (AAERT), or at least one year of experience transcribing digital recordings of multi-channel courtroom or other fast-paced, lengthy courtroom proceedings involving multiple parties, often without log notes.
  • Knowledge of and experience using transcription equipment and software for digital audio recordings with multiple simultaneous speakers.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent command of the English language.
  • Familiarity with legal transcription standards, practices, and formatting guidelines.
  • Experience with court reporting for legal proceedings, including grand jury proceedings.
  • Ability to balance multiple and shifting priorities while adhering to strict deadlines.
  • Ability to follow detailed policies and procedures consistently and maintain organized billing and other records.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
Responsibilities
  • Attend court in person, or remotely if permitted, to provide court reporting services for legal proceedings, including grand jury proceedings.
  • Transcribe audio and video recordings of meetings, conferences, interviews, and legal proceedings.
  • Review and edit transcripts for accuracy, grammar, punctuation, and formatting.
  • Deliver transcripts with 99–100% accuracy requiring no rework.
  • Perform regular quality checks on transcripts to ensure consistent accuracy and reliability, addressing discrepancies or issues promptly.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of conversations and documents in accordance with privacy laws and company policies regarding sensitive information.
  • Provide customer service.
Desired Qualifications
  • Ability to type at least 65 words per minute.
  • Familiarity with For The Record (FTR) and/or VIQ RC Player.
  • Fluency in one or more languages besides English.
