Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in a scientific field and two years of research experience, or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
  • The employee may be required to work with potentially hazardous agents and must take specific precautions against them and/or be immunized against them.
Responsibilities
  • Perform specialized and complex research and laboratory tests and procedures under minimal supervision.
  • Use independent judgment to apply or adapt scientific techniques.
  • Assist in protocol design.
  • Investigate and propose alternative experimental procedures for consideration by a principal investigator.
  • Assist in planning and scheduling research procedures.
  • Analyze and interpret study results.
  • Demonstrate and train others in the proper use and operation of laboratory techniques and equipment.
  • Calibrate, troubleshoot, and perform routine repair and maintenance of equipment.
  • Review literature for related research developments and techniques and compile findings.
  • Monitor laboratory processes to maintain quality assurance standards.
  • Record study results, compile and analyze data, and prepare charts and graphs.
  • Monitor the handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous substances.
  • Perform related responsibilities as required.
Desired Qualifications
  • Work with the Goldsmith Lab to investigate novel T-cell therapy and immunotherapy approaches in vitro and in vivo using human-derived pediatric solid tumor models.
  • Multitask and independently run different types of experiments and analyze experimental results after training.
  • Commitment to at least two years in the position.
  • Process clinical trial samples for mass cytometry (CyTOF).
  • Expertise in immunology, immune-oncology, or cell and cancer biology.
  • Expertise in cytometry and immunophenotyping, including sample processing, data acquisition, and data analysis using FlowJo or Cytobank.
  • Proficiency in functional immunology assays.
  • Experience with routine cell culture or organoid modeling and molecular biology techniques such as western blot, reverse transcription quantitative polymerase chain reaction, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.
  • Animal-handling experience, including performing animal experiments.
  • Self-motivation, strong work ethic, willingness to learn new technologies, effective judgment and problem-solving skills with little or no supervision, attention to detail, and multitasking.
