Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • A minimum of 5 years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with enterprise resource planning or manufacturing resource planning systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing cost accounting, inventory accounting, and United States generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain and improve the company's cost accounting system.
  • Analyze manufacturing costs, including raw materials, labor, overhead, scrap, and landed costs.
  • Establish and monitor cost standards and investigate cost variances.
  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual standard cost updates.
  • Monitor inventory transactions, adjustments, shrinkage, scrap, and obsolescence.
  • Partner with Engineering and Production to maintain accurate bills of materials.
  • Support continuous improvement of inventory and costing processes.
  • Prepare and post journal entries.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly.
  • Assist with monthly financial statements and support a three-day month-end close.
  • Prepare cost reports and present findings and recommendations to management.
  • Communicate significant cost changes and trends to leadership.
  • Develop financial models and cost analyses, including machine rates, activity-based costing, and variance reporting.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting through cost analysis and historical data.
  • Respond to audit requests and internal reporting needs.
  • Collect and analyze financial data for special projects.
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings to improve financial and operational performance.
  • Develop cost accounting processes for new products and co-manufactured items.
  • Lead and develop a small team of cost accountants.
  • Promote continuous improvement and strong internal controls.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Manufacturing, Engineering, and other departments.
Desired Qualifications
  • CPA preferred.
  • Previous experience supervising, mentoring, or coaching junior-level cost accountants is helpful.
