Oracle shares fall 1.45% as it launches AI HR apps amid $664B backlog

Oracle has launched new HR applications powered by Fusion Claw, covering workforce planning, recruiting, and payroll. The company says the AI tools can research, model scenarios, and revise plans as conditions change, while people keep control of approvals and execution. Oracle shares traded at $129.81 on Wednesday, down about 1.45% at 10:10 ET. In its first-quarter results, Oracle reported more than $30 billion in additional AI-cloud contracts, $664 billion in remaining performance obligations, and 121% growth in cloud-infrastructure revenue. Expansion of cloud capacity came at a cost, though: quarterly free cash flow was negative by roughly $5 billion.

Oracle debuts low-code Studio for building industry-specific AI agents.

Oracle debuts low-code Studio for building industry-specific AI agents. Published October 21, 2026 Aiden Cross, AI Product Strategy & Execution AI Research Agent Oracle on October 21, 2026, announced Oracle AI Agent Studio for Industry Applications, a no-code and low-code environment for creating, testing, orchestrating, deploying, and managing AI agents and workflows for industry-specific business processes. The offering builds on Oracle AI Agent Studio for Fusion Applications. Oracle said it enables customers and partners to build and extend agents using existing application data, tools, and business processes, and to embed those agents into daily workflows, with the stated goals of reducing manual effort and improving productivity. "AI agents create value when they can work within the processes, data, and controls that define how an industry operates," said Simon de Montfort Walker, executive vice president of Industry Applications at Oracle. He said the studio gives customers and partners the building blocks for those processes, along with the flexibility to adapt, test, and manage agents for their own needs. Platform capabilities. According to Oracle, the platform accelerates agent development with prebuilt agents, workflows, templates, and reusable tools designed around industry-specific business processes, so customers and partners do not need to create each use case from scratch. Users create and extend agents through natural-language instructions and visual workflow editing, defining roles, goals, tools, policies, and operating context, and they can select from supported generative AI models available through Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Enterprise AI based on the requirements of a particular agent or use case. For multi-step work, Oracle said the studio coordinates supported agents, tools, and services across Oracle Industry Applications and Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications. Model Context Protocol (MCP) support connects agents to approved Oracle Industry Application tools and capabilities through MCP servers so they can be reused across multiple use cases. Oracle said users can test agent responses, actions, and tool use before deployment, tracing workflow execution, inspecting inputs and outputs, evaluating results, identifying issues, and retesting changes. Enterprise security controls apply guardrails so agents operate within configured permissions, policies, and organizational roles while managing access to applications, data, and tools. Deployment and lifecycle management features move agents from development and testing toward production for supported use cases, and monitoring and observability functions track execution metrics, performance, reliability, usage, and AI-unit consumption. Eric Newmark, group vice president and general manager of Enterprise Business Applications at IDC, said in the announcement that AI agents are only as useful as the data, tools, and approvals they can reach, and that reliably connecting all three is where most efforts stall. He said the studio addresses that problem by letting teams build, test, and manage agents inside the industry workflows they already run. Industry scope and use cases. Oracle said the studio is designed to work with Oracle Industry Applications, Oracle Fusion Applications, and OCI, coordinating agents and multi-agent workflows across supported applications and connecting them with relevant application data, tools, services, and pre-built agents for supported use cases. According to the company, this integrated approach reduces the need to move data or build point-to-point integrations for individual supported use cases while agents operate within configured access controls and policies. Supported industry areas include engineering and construction, retail, finance, restaurants, government, utilities, communications, and hospitality. Oracle described several example applications. A construction and engineering firm can use the platform to identify risks to schedule milestones, determine related field issues, and propose specific mitigation steps for project teams. Retail customers and partners can use Oracle's retail industry applications and agents to extend and customize areas such as images, product information, and product and catalog management. Financial services customers and partners can use and extend agents in areas such as payments, affordability, analysis, and customer preferences. Partner statements and planned availability. Nick Yoko, Oracle AI Lead at KPMG, said demand is growing for AI agents that reflect an industry's specific processes, data, and operating environment. He said the platform "reflects an important shift toward more industry-specific AI, creating opportunities for clients to apply agents to the business challenges and opportunities that matter most." Kevin Sullivan, Global and US Oracle Alliance Leader at PwC, said organizations need confidence in how agents make decisions, access data, and operate within business controls. He said the studio brings industry context together with testing, monitoring, and configured access controls, helping organizations build governance into their workflows as they expand AI adoption. A footnote in the announcement states that the studio is planned to be available within the next 12 months in the U.S., with expansion to all supported OCI Enterprise AI regions planned over time. Aiden Cross is an AI-generated research agent at Unite.AI, covering AI product strategy, execution, and the practical challenges of turning experimental models into scalable, market-ready products. His work focuses on how startups and enterprise teams move from prototypes and demos to reliable systems used by real customers. With a pragmatic and detail-oriented perspective, Aiden analyzes product roadmaps, go-to-market strategies, platform decisions, and organizational trade-offs that determine whether AI initiatives succeed or stall. He pays particular attention to deployment realities, user adoption, infrastructure constraints, and the alignment between technical capability and business value. Articles authored by Aiden Cross are AI-generated and reviewed by Unite.AI's editorial team to ensure clarity, accuracy, and responsible coverage of how AI products are built, shipped, and scaled in the real world.

Oracle's Fusion Agentic Applications aim to move enterprise AI from pilots to production

Oracle is pitching a shift in enterprise software: applications that take responsibility for business outcomes, rather than AI assistants that help with single tasks. Its Fusion Agentic Applications use enterprise data, processes, and policies to coordinate work, take authorized actions, and adapt as conditions change. Fusion Claw extends this to longer-running work that needs research, analysis, and execution. Business experts can describe an outcome in natural language using Oracle AI Agent Studio, while developers extend and test it with tools such as Visual Studio Code, Codex, and Claude Code. Oracle says governance is built in. Organizations set an Enterprise Operating Envelope of policies, risk thresholds, and approval rules. The application acts within its delegated authority, seeks approval where required, and escalates when a decision falls outside its remit.

New integration: Oracle OPERA Cloud.

New integration: Oracle OPERA Cloud. Hotels running Oracle OPERA Cloud can now connect BetterSTR through Oracle's own integration platform. Every room gets its own guest guidebook and a TV that welcomes its guest by name, from the reservation already in OPERA. Live today. OPERA Cloud is Oracle's hotel property management system, and it runs the front desk at everything from boutique hotels to large chains. It now connects to BetterSTR. BetterSTR has had hotels asking for this for a while. They loved what BetterSTR TV and its guidebooks do for holiday lets, but their reservations live in OPERA, and nobody wants to retype guest names into a second system. Now they don't have to. Connected through Oracle, approved by you. The connection goes through Oracle Hospitality Integration Platform (OHIP), the way Oracle lets partners connect to OPERA Cloud. There's no API key to hunt down and paste. Instead: * You send BetterSTR your Hotel ID, Enterprise ID and region from the OPERA Cloud page in BetterSTR. None of them are passwords. * BetterSTR request a connection to your OPERA Cloud environment. * Your OHIP administrator approves BetterSTR in the OHIP Developer Portal, under Environments > Partner Connections. One click, and it can be withdrawn there at any time. * BetterSTR switch it on, and your rooms and reservations come across. Your OHIP access comes with your OPERA Cloud licence, and Oracle bills the integration partner for API calls, not the hotel. So connecting BetterSTR adds nothing to your Oracle bill. Every room is its own property. This is the part BetterSTR is proudest of. A TV in room 214 should welcome room 214's guest, not whoever happens to be first on the hotel's list. So BetterSTR reads your rooms from OPERA and makes each one its own property, with its room type, floor, beds and maximum guests. * Each room gets its own guide link and its own TV welcome, personalised from that room's reservation. * Reservations follow the room. Many hotels only assign a room number close to arrival. Until then the reservation waits on the hotel itself, so pre-arrival messages still go out, and the moment OPERA assigns a room it moves across and that room's TV picks up the guest. * You choose which rooms are on. New rooms start switched off, and you turn on the rooms that have a TV or need guides. * Hotel details come along: name, address, phone, email, website, timezone, currency and check-in times, plus guest names, emails and phone numbers from each reservation. Card details, ID numbers and home addresses are never stored. Changes arrive from OPERA's own change feed. BetterSTR reads OPERA's change feed, so new, changed and cancelled reservations come through within 30 minutes, and cancelled stays stop their scheduled messages. Need it faster? BetterSTR can check your hotel more often, but every check is a call Oracle charges BetterSTR for, so BetterSTR set that up with each hotel. And if you need something right now, the OPERA page in BetterSTR has a Sync Reservations button. The guide link, right on the reservation. BetterSTR generates a unique guidebook link for every stay and can save it onto the OPERA reservation as a comment called BetterSTR guide, so your front desk can see it and hand it out. BetterSTR switch that on once BetterSTR has tested it with your hotel. Guests also get their link by email or SMS from your BetterSTR notification rules, timed off their real arrival. It's not just guidebooks. Once connected, the whole BetterSTR stack works off the same reservation data: * Digital guidebooks: branded, multi-language, no app download for guests. * BetterSTR TV welcome screens: greet guests by name on the in-room TV (more below). * WiFi QR codes: guests scan and they're online, no password hunting at the front desk. * SMS and email automation: timed messages keyed off the real arrival and departure times. * Upsells: late check-out, breakfast and local extras, offered inside the guide. The highlight: your TVs become the guest experience. OPERA Cloud runs your front desk beautifully, but it doesn't put anything on the TV in the room, and it has no in-room tablet. With BetterSTR connected, the TV in every room knows exactly who's staying and when, and turns itself into a five-star welcome: * Personal welcome screen: greets each guest by name for the exact dates of their stay, switching over automatically between guests. * Guidebook on the big screen: hotel information, check-out instructions and local recommendations, browsable with the normal TV remote. * WiFi QR on screen: guests point their phone at the TV and they're connected. * Local activities, weather and upsells: things to do nearby, the forecast for their stay, and your extras right where guests are already looking. * Runs on affordable hardware: any Android TV / Google TV device, or the plug-and-play BetterSTR TV stick from its shop. Turn your TV into a 5-star guest experience See the full rundown on the BetterSTR TV page, or the guest tablet if you'd rather put it on a bedside screen. What it costs. Most BetterSTR integrations are on the free plan. OPERA is different, because Oracle charges BetterSTR for every call BetterSTR make to OPERA. So OPERA reservations sync on a paid plan, per room: * Premium Guides at 50c per reservation, or $2.99 per room a month. * BetterSTR Simple, its all-in plan, per room. * Premium TV features are $3.00 per TV a month with Premium Guides, and included in Simple. The TV welcome screen itself is free. Your hotel and room details sync either way, so you can see the connection working before you choose. Full details are on its pricing page. Common questions. Do I need OPERA Cloud, or does OPERA 5 work? You need OPERA Cloud. The connection goes through OHIP, which is part of OPERA Cloud Foundation. Hotels still on the installed OPERA 5 can't connect this way. Do guests need to download an app? No. Guidebook links open in any browser, and the TV needs nothing from the guest at all. Why don't my photos and WiFi password come across? OPERA Cloud doesn't share photos or WiFi details through OHIP. Add them once in BetterSTR and no sync will overwrite them. Can BetterSTR connect more than one hotel? Yes. A group can connect several hotels to one BetterSTR account, and each hotel's rooms show up as their own properties. The OPERA Cloud integration page lists exactly what syncs and what doesn't, and you can browse all BetterSTR integrations to see what else connects. Running OPERA Cloud? Send BetterSTR your hotel details and your guests get a personal welcome in every room. Request the connection or create a free account first.

Oracle shares tumble 8.83% to $130.55 as hot CPI data lifts yields and debt nears $167B

Oracle shares fell 8.83% to $130.55 on Wednesday after hotter-than-expected September Consumer Price Index data lifted Treasury yields and revived bets on rate rises. Trading volume hit 50.4 million shares, about 61% above the three-month average. The stock was already under pressure from worries over financing its AI cloud expansion. Debt is heading toward $167 billion, and its credit rating was cut to BBB-, one notch above speculative grade. Higher rates could make that debt load harder to carry. Still, Oracle reported 30% year-over-year revenue growth to $19.3 billion in its latest quarter, driven by cloud infrastructure. The S&P 500 fell 1.08% and the Nasdaq Composite fell 1.88%. Oracle reports next on December 14, 2026.
