Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year educational institution.
  • Prior experience working with high school or college students and families, and with college counseling or college admissions.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as Naviance; Salesforce knowledge is a plus.
  • Ability to build rapport and trust with people from diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds, including underrepresented urban youth and first-generation college students.
  • Commitment to the mission of the Cristo Rey Network and the Catholic and Jesuit identity of the school.
  • Ability to respect, promote, accommodate, and avoid conflict with the mission, moral and social teachings, doctrines, and laws of the Roman Catholic faith.
  • Ability to travel out of state.
  • Successful completion of the school's required criminal background checks and mandatory training, including Safe Haven child-abuse and mandatory-reporting training.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 30 pounds.
Responsibilities
  • Lead the academic advising team by providing content training, direction, and solutions-oriented support.
  • Create and implement strategies to increase alumni engagement, re-enrollment after stopping out, and graduation from four-year colleges within six years.
  • Develop and implement a program evaluation strategy and use alumni data to refine the college counseling program.
  • Identify alumni needs and develop partnerships with colleges and universities to provide resources and support.
  • Establish a network of advocates at local, state, and out-of-state colleges and universities.
  • Visit alumni at college campuses in Texas and, when possible, out of state.
  • Assist with senior-to-alumni transition events and coordinate alumni parent meetings and events.
  • Organize alumni events and communications, including social media, alumni gatherings, and alumni panels.
  • Collaborate with school departments and participate in professional development activities as needed.
  • Serve as the point of contact with the Cristo Rey Network and other school leaders to disseminate information.
  • Create and maintain strategic partnerships and data-sharing agreements with universities.
  • Prepare reports and maintain professional relationships with relevant education and Catholic school associations.
  • Assist in hiring future department members and performing formal evaluations of the alumni advising team.
  • Oversee, coordinate, and communicate standardized testing, including the Texas Success Initiative.
  • Create communication and problem-solving systems to maximize alumni persistence and college graduation.
  • Build a school-wide college-going culture of high expectations.
  • Participate in administrative meetings, student supervision, record-keeping, reporting, parent-teacher relations, major school events, and assigned school duties.
  • Support the Jesuit and Catholic identity of the school, including student spiritual formation and the liturgical and spiritual life of the school.
  • Participate in faculty and staff formation in Ignatian spirituality, Ignatian pedagogy, and Jesuit education.
  • Support and promote the Corporate Work-Study Program.
  • Implement the student Code of Conduct and Disciplinary Procedures when applicable.
Desired Qualifications
  • A master's degree in Education.
  • A licensed social worker credential.
