Requirements
  • A valid commercial driver's license with the appropriate class and passenger endorsement is required.
  • The selected candidate must pass a Kansas Bureau of Investigation background check and pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.
  • The candidate must be at least 21 years old.
  • The candidate must maintain insurability under the City's driving standards.
  • The candidate must have an acceptable driving record.
  • The candidate must be available during days, evenings, and some weekends.
Responsibilities
  • Drive designated routes safely and in compliance with traffic laws, safety procedures, and transit requirements.
  • Pick up and drop off passengers at designated locations and transport Little Apple Day Camp participants.
  • Maintain the schedule when possible and communicate delays, incidents, or route issues to passengers and supervisors.
  • Assist passengers, including passengers with disabilities, with boarding and exiting the vehicle as needed.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle safety inspections each shift, including checking tires, lights, and fluids, and report defects promptly.
  • Transport Parks and Recreation participants to activities within and outside City limits using City passenger vehicles, including small buses, mid-size vehicles, and 15-passenger vans.
  • Provide prompt and courteous service to participants of all ages.
Desired Qualifications
  • CPR and First Aid certification is preferred; training is available through Parks and Recreation if not already held.
