About the job

Requirements
  • Current, hands-on understanding of applied AI technologies, models, and tooling sufficient to direct development work, review architecture and design decisions, and hold credible technical conversations with client engineers and architects.
  • Experience owning a revenue or gross-profit target, building the pipeline behind it, and reporting against a plan.
  • Ability to advise at both C-suite and engineering levels and establish credibility with clients on significant decisions.
  • Experience building a team or capability from a small base, including hiring, setting delivery standards, and creating repeatable methodology.
  • Familiarity with AWS and Anthropic ecosystems, or a comparable hyperscaler and model-vendor landscape, including partner competencies and joint go-to-market activity.
  • Track record of public contribution on applied AI, or the appetite and ability to build one.
  • Experience leading and line-managing a technical team, including setting direction, delegating ownership, and developing people.
  • Ability to prioritize a small team's effort and stop work that is not producing.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain client focus and decide where to concentrate effort, shifting toward larger, more sustainable areas of demand as the business unit matures.
  • Define and own AI go-to-market offerings, including their buyers, problems solved, indicative pricing, and delivery models; review, retire, and evolve offerings as the market changes.
  • Build trusted-advisor relationships with customers, advise stakeholders from C-suite sponsors to developers, and convert relationships into repeat work and referenceable engagements.
  • Lead pre-sales activity on AI opportunities from qualification through proposal; support proposals, workshops, and pitches; lead bids where applied AI credibility is differentiating; and decline unsuitable opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain reusable client collateral, including opportunity assessments, roadmaps, and business cases, and make it available to delivery and commercial teams.
  • Build and own AI partner and industry relationships, including technical relationships, joint go-to-market activity, and relevant partner competencies; decide which competencies to pursue and keep them current.
  • Provide thought leadership and establish Cloudscaler's public voice on applied AI through speaking, meetups, blogs, whitepapers, and contributions to external communities and industry discussion.
  • Track AI model releases, tooling, and emerging frameworks; assess their credibility and advise the Leadership Team on what to adopt, monitor, or set aside.
  • Own the business unit's commercial performance against pipeline, revenue, and gross-profit metrics; produce a six-month revenue plan and build toward full P&L ownership as the unit scales.
  • Report monthly KPIs to the Leadership Team and build investment cases to fund the unit's growth, including the case for establishing a dedicated team.
  • Provide technical delivery oversight for AI customer engagements, review architecture and design decisions, make technical decisions when needed, and avoid commitments to infeasible capabilities.
  • Build and lead the AI practice, own the AI strategy and delivery roadmap, hire and line-manage the team, develop capability, establish repeatable methodology and delivery standards, and create an internal centre of excellence for review and quality assurance.
  • Decompose broad work into delegable responsibilities, build a team to own them, and assign named ownership for internal AI guidance, internal project reviews, pre-sales attendance, marketing campaigns, and enablement workshops.
  • Build reusable AI accelerators and intellectual property, register mature assets, and work with engineering to keep them testable and current as models and tooling evolve.
  • Enable all employees to work with AI by defining internal learning pathways, setting usage guidance, and running company-wide enablement activities.
  • Grow and run a standing internal AI community of practice where colleagues outside the team can learn and contribute.
Desired Qualifications
  • An existing network within AI partners is a significant advantage, along with fluency in how each partner organization works, its market position, and its commercial objectives.
  • The ability and willingness to pass DV security clearance checks is advantageous but not essential.
