Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, or a related field, or an Associate of Science degree with two years of relevant hands-on manufacturing experience or a similar laboratory function.
  • Experience working with DNA and RNA molecular biology techniques.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and accurately follow standard operating procedures quickly with attention to detail.
  • Fine and gross motor skills, including the ability to work with various sizes of labware and firmly grasp materials.
  • Ability to visually inspect products and gels.
  • Ability to work under a BSL II hood for multiple consecutive hours.
  • Ability to follow aseptic and contamination-control techniques, including working in an environmentally controlled facility with gowning requirements.
  • Ability to work with hazardous materials such as acids.
  • Ability to perform precise, detail-oriented work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and shifting priorities.
  • Written and oral communication skills and computer skills.
  • Ability to stand for several hours and lift approximately 30 pounds.
Responsibilities
  • Accurately and reproducibly perform molecular biology techniques that support the manufacture of molecular controls.
  • Follow aseptic techniques and current Good Manufacturing Practice requirements.
  • Work with chemistries, labware, and laboratory equipment, including performing work in BSL II hoods.
  • Precisely deliver small volumes using micropipettes.
  • Perform in-process quality control on manufacturing components and products using pH testing, spectrometry, and electrophoresis, and accurately document all results.
  • Assist other manufacturing personnel in manufacturing products.
  • Assist with troubleshooting processes and products as needed.
  • Participate in modifying or improving existing products and processes when requested.
  • Perform routine laboratory tasks including inventory, ordering, and maintaining organization.
  • Follow quality systems based on current Good Manufacturing Practice and International Organization for Standardization regulatory requirements, accurately document work, and maintain detailed records.
  • Perform laboratory support tasks including routine cleaning of laboratories and equipment and general housekeeping.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with PCR, spectrometry, and gel electrophoresis.
  • Experience in an industrial environment following current Good Manufacturing Practice and/or International Organization for Standardization requirements.
