Requirements
  • A college or university degree in a related field is required.
  • Knowledge and skills developed through fewer than two years of work experience in a related job discipline are required.
  • The ability to maintain USDA documentation and quality control records is required.
  • The ability to inspect and document transport vehicles for regulatory cleanliness and safety compliance is required.
  • The ability to coordinate schedules with approved drivers and ensure proper packaging of laboratory samples is required.
  • The ability to lift or push up to 50 pounds is required.
Responsibilities
  • Lead operational activities for the Animal Resources Center dock, including receipt, storage, and distribution of laboratory animal care supplies and equipment.
  • Communicate daily with facility supervisors regarding supply and equipment needs.
  • Order, receive, and inspect research animal arrivals and shipments.
  • Generate delivery reports and cage cards, and maintain USDA documentation.
  • Maintain inventory reorder levels and ensure uninterrupted service.
  • Generate required documentation and maintain supply and equipment logs to facilitate reordering.
  • Follow up on outstanding orders.
  • Build vendor relationships and serve as the main point of contact for inquiries regarding purchases and dock use.
  • Inspect and document ARC transport vehicles to ensure compliance with USDA and AAALAC cleanliness and safety standards.
  • Coordinate scheduling with approved drivers and ensure proper packaging of laboratory samples transported to and from HPL.
  • Assist with transporting equipment between campus and off-campus facilities as needed.
  • Coordinate movement of equipment or storage of materials for Office of Shared Research Facilities cores when needed.
  • Maintain technical and administrative support for a research project.
  • Analyze and maintain data and specimens.
  • Conduct literature reviews.
  • Assist with preparing reports, manuscripts, presentations, and other documents.
  • Perform other related work as needed.
Desired Qualifications
  • At least one year of experience in an academic or biomedical research environment.
  • Prior experience in materials inventory management.
  • A valid Class D Illinois or Indiana driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
  • AALAS certification.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with a customer service orientation.
  • The ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
