Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing.
  • Licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse in New York State.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Knowledge of safety and infection control policies.
  • Certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
Responsibilities
  • Aid in the orientation of new employees.
  • Practice within the Licensed Practical Nurse scope of practice.
  • Identify and report changes in resident status to the Registered Nurse in a timely manner.
  • Perform and maintain knowledge of vital signs, medication administration, monitoring laboratory values, pre- and post-procedure resident care, geriatric competency, hospice care, pain management, resident safety, restraints, isolation precautions and personal protective equipment, and patient/resident admission and discharge.
  • Provide written and verbal educational material to residents, patients and families, and document education according to policy.
  • Update and implement resident plans of care appropriately.
  • Transcribe and accurately document physician orders using a computer order-entry system.
  • Accurately reconcile medications upon resident admission and discharge.
  • Participate in resident feeding and oversee dining areas as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Previous experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of computer systems and/or prior clerical experience is preferred.
