Requirements
  • A Bachelor's Degree and one year of related work experience in community outreach, project coordination, strategic planning, program implementation, and/or evaluation within the context of primary prevention, or a Master's Degree.
  • Must reside in Arizona, California, Hawaii, or Nevada.
  • Must demonstrate progress toward Prevention Specialist certification during employment, including successfully passing the Prevention Specialist certification exam.
  • Must be available for variable work hours, including nights and weekends.
  • Must travel occasionally, three to five times per year.
Responsibilities
  • Follow detailed instructions, rules, and regulations to complete assigned project deliverables.
  • Participate in activities and meetings related to planning, scheduling, and implementation of grant and contract activities.
  • Assist in planning grant and contract activities.
  • Conduct data collection, enter data into databases, and analyze data for reporting purposes.
  • Maintain effective communication with internal staff members.
  • Develop positive relationships with grant and contract customers and stakeholders and respond to project-related requests.
  • Complete reports and evaluation tasks.
  • Complete assigned data requests.
  • Collect and enter project data.
  • Track progress toward Prevention Specialist certification.
  • Maintain frequent, consistent, and professional communication with host site staff, the Pacific Southwest Prevention Technology Transfer Center Network mentor, Pacific Southwest Prevention Technology Transfer Center staff, and other Fellows.
  • Participate in training, mentoring, ongoing learning, and capacity development activities.
  • Participate in virtual and in-person training and work experience focused on becoming a certified prevention specialist.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience working or volunteering in community-based organizations.
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing responsive services for communities.
  • Recent college graduates or early-career professionals with experience in substance misuse prevention are preferred.
